Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

An action-packed slog

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

This is quite a terrific fantasy drama from Hong Kong , starring Jacky Cheung as Ga Yat Lung, a young warrior who falls in love with Mung Suet (Joey Wang), the day of her sacrifice to the Ghost King. To save her and the village, with the help of Fox Demon Ching (Sharla Cheung), Ga Yat Lung springs into action. There are plenty of excellent special effects and adventurous moments to make this movie entertaining, in addition to well-acted drama that kept the suspense and intrigue alive. Even my dad, a big critique of Hong Kong films, enjoyed this movie immensely. The plot is solid and fast-paced and grabs at your attention. A great one!Grade A

SPOILER ALERT ************* Actually, this movie is good one, but it kinds reminiscent of Tsui Hark great flick "A Chinnese Ghost Story". If you already watch that true classic, this one is nothing, especially with Joey Wong in both movies. She was splendid in that classic. But, if you looking for a fun fantasy, this is worth watching.6/10
