Gary The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
GUENOT PHILIPPE As usual with Republic Pictures movies from these years, this film is a mix up of western, romance, adventure, with a pinch of comedy. Costumes more than Indians or gunslingers. No stampede or pursuit either. But there is some bad guys. And a gal, lots of gals. You'll find here the usual scheme of the lead female character - Vera Ralston - torn between two men: Scott Brady and David Brian. Good story, classic one. But we can prefer William Wellman's WESTWARD THE WOMEN, concerning westerns starring a bunch of women in search of husbands. But can we compare the talented, the great Wellman and the only not so bad B director Springsteen? Can we?
