Reviews

Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Marva-nova Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
Prashast Singh Movie: Aakrosh (A): Action/Thriller - HindiAfter watching Ajay Devgn's newly released action crime thriller RAID, I felt the urge to watch AAKROSH, because it seemed to have a realistic feel like the former as well. I finally checked it out and after watching it, I have only praise for the film.Positives:The screenplay is excellent. It carries the feel of a dark action movie and every time the heroes break into action is awesome.Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna are highly impressive. The bonding between them is quite likable and works for a major segment. Paresh Rawal's performance is extremely realistic and he deserves a lot of praise. The action sequences are extremely mindblowing; every action sequence feels new, innovative, creative and never seen before. The music works for the film very well. The twists and turns in the screenplay are very well woven. The film has many excellent and clapworthy dialogues which are bound to be memorable.Technical aspects ranging from cinematography to editing as top notch. The film has explored an issue which is merely used as a subplot in most Bollywood films.Negatives:NilRepeat value: YesAAKROSH is the best Indian action thriller in every aspect. It's biggest success is carrying the feel of a dark action film in every frame and this makes the film one of its kind. It's an underrated gem from 2010 and had it released in 2018, it would have been a huge success. It's a shame that a film this socially relevant was given an A certificate, which further limited its box office prospects.
Takethispunch Three friends from Delhi go missing in a small village – Jhanjhar. It's two months and there is no clue about their disappearance. The media and students movement demand action from the authorities. It's then that the government orders a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry with officers Sidhant Chaturvedi (Akshaye Khanna) and Pratap Kumar (Ajay Devgn) to solve the case. They find it difficult to solve the case as the local police and other authorities are a part of Shool Sena aka Home Minister which is responsible for illicit activities. Sidhant and Pratap also face Superintendent of police Ajatshatru Singh IPS (Paresh Rawal), a ruthless police officer who misuses his power. Not only that even the locals don't support the investigation.
saish746 AA-Krash Burning(Straight copy of Mississippi Burning)When you go wrong, you go overboard – seems like the mantra of once good directors in Bollywood. Similar to Prakash Jha, Priyadarshan who did deliver films like KalaPani, Virasat and Gardish; delivered only promise and a great miss through Aakrosh. This film has everything, right from topics like Honor Killing, Caste fights, Feudal lords, Masala, Item Songs, over-the-top action and one man army style heroism. The lack of real and packed storyline will only disappoint you.The failure starts with camera(s) and frames. You will notice a different treatment of scenes throughout the films. Looks like that the songs and action sequences are shot by two different directors. The opening was shaky and thrilling but lacked the camera control and overall focus of the story. Priyadarshan seems to lose its touch after the continuous churning of brainless comedy. After Hera-Pheri, we are still waiting a great movie from the master. Unnecessary casting of Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy (just one sick item number) proves that the producers wanted some sexism in form of these two dusky ladies. They forget that Bipasha basu minus makeup is still worse because she never acted and never can. She cannot even deliver the rustic approach required by the script. Unjustifiable songs are another miss and a total wastage of quite a long saga. The exaggerated action sequences were not at all required. They just helped in killing the mood further. The art director along with the designer was wasted to show Bipasha in a skimpy outfit in past and a rustic, down to earth typical wife wrapped in sari as well. The story has many flaws like, just after the wet rainy song, its shown that the village never had rain since 2 years and farmers are facing draught like situation. There was no Dalit political leader, One CBI officer in the team, small village but a very large police force, Beating media persons in public without any fear, sub-inspector is shown carrying pistols and weapons and equipped with many government cars and gypsy's …… there are many to recall.Though inspired from Ranbir-sena, Shool-sena is shown without its counterpart – Naxalites. The Jehanabad shootings and killings was copied to the silver screen but lacked the horror and emotions. The marketing of this movie was done primarily on recent Khap killings or Honor killings, but the story was loosely inspired from Mississippi burning. When I saw the duo of Akshay khanna and Ajay Devgan, where one is calm and the other is hard boiled hot blooded, suddenly Gene Hackman and William Defoe striked my mind. The Bhatt again copied and got inspired from 1988 Hollywood movie. The "Ku Klux Klan" was modified into Shool- sena after a dirty cocktail of Ranbir-Sena of Bihar. It's a shame on the legendary Priyadarshan. The whole sequence of Bipasha exposing her husband, the fight between the two leads, then an agreement to work together, private part's castration – Nasbandi, to the fight in the saloon with a razor, the sentences and the verdicts are straight lifted from this American crime drama. There was even a scene loosely copied from classic Mirch-Masala.This copy got worse by the love story of Ajay Devgan and Bipasha who is playing wife of Paresh (Villain). The whole movie might look good to those never exposed to cinema and reality. An utter disappointment. Though Akshay Khanna and Ajay Devgan did their best and they delivered very well together. Instead; I would recommend you to buy a DVD of Oscar winning Mississippi Burning than wasting your money to this flop copy.A total of NEGATIVE STARS.
jahangirhussain74 Aakrosh is based on the theme of 'honor killings' in India. However, this theme seemed to contrived as it was directed by Priyadarshan. He is a light-hearted comedy director and should remain so.Priyadarshan chose to make a film on honor killings but this is simply a pretense to copy the controversial Hollywood flick 'Mississippi Burning'. Not only the scenes but some dialogues are also copied down word for word. The story is pretty much the same like the original but here the 'Blacks' and the 'KKK' clashes are changed to the 'Thakur' and 'Dalit' clashes. The story goes like this: two CBI officers (Akshaye Khanna and Ajay Devgan) are sent to a remote Indian village to investigate the reason behind the disappearance of three students. Their investigation is filled with traps and hurdles as they face many obstacles, especially from a corrupt and ruthless cop (Paresh Rawal). To make matters worse, the villagers refuse to cooperate with Akshaye and Ajay. Because they are scared of Shool Sena-an organization responsible for many illicit activities. As the story unfolds, Paresh's meek wife (Bipasha Basu) who was also Ajay's ex-fiancée, reveals the truth behind the students' disappearance. Finally, Ajay and Akshaye unearth the whole case but with fatal consequences which lead to the crux of the film. Talking about the performances, the movie rests on Ajay Devgan, Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal's shoulders. They carry the movie on their own. But Ajay is my favorite. I like the way he delivers his dialogues. They are often sarcastic, witty and even humorous at some point. Akshaye Khanna is also diligent. Paresh Rawal does his villain part pretty well but didn't we see him doing this type of roles a zillion times. Bipasha Basu plays a role that I find very difficult to connect to. Her past and present have stark differences. Amita Pathak has no role to talk of. Reema Sen is efficient.Music is pretty good. 'Man Ki Mat' and 'Isaak Se Meetha' are my favorites. Editing is strictly okay. Cinematography is eye-catching.I think 'Aakrosh' is not for the faint-hearted. Because too much violence and gore will make you sick. Anyways, if you like action thrillers and you're missing your village too much, then I would recommend 'Aakrosh' to you.Overall, 'Aakrosh' is disappointing. I liked Priyadarshan's 'Bhool Bhulaiya', 'Hungama' and 'Malamaal Weekly' because they were all comedies. But when it comes to serious action thrillers, he just thinks ripping off Hollywood flicks would help him to a great extent.I would rate it 2/10.
