Boobirt Stylish but barely mediocre overall
Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Salubfoto It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Claudio Carvalho The eighteen year-old Angeline (Ashley Hinshaw) raises money with a session of naked pictures and leaves her alcoholic and dysfunctional parents fleeing to San Francisco with her friend Andrew (Dev Patel). They rent a room in the apartment of the gay Paco (Vincent Palo) and Angeline finds a job in a strip club and Andrew in a bookstore. Soon Angeline has a love affair with the drug-addicted lawyer Frances (James Franco) and joins the adult industry making porn. Meanwhile the lesbian director Margaret (Heather Graham) becomes obsessed on her."About Cherry" is a movie with a pointless story of a shallow teenager without moral principles that leaves her alcoholic parents to become a porn-star. The characters are poorly developed and most of them are unlikable. Angeline is actually a bisexual teenager without any moral principle and maybe nymphomaniac. The situations are also shallow and the movie is neither a drama or romance nor a soft-porn. The only thing that worths is the beauty of the lead actress. My vote is four.Title (Brazil): "Doce Tentação"
freyaa_ftw interesting story line, interesting until there is no climax and you are left feeling as though you wasted your time. there is nothing special about cherry, which could represent that her ordinariness means she is relatable to any young female that could end up in the pornography industry. either way I cant help but feel if there was a better ending the film would have been better, although the ending it had did seem like the most probable it was very disappointing. it was very interesting to see a movie that glamourized the pornography business, however It would have been a bit better if it had shown of the darker truths, the filmed seemed as though it was about female dominance and did not expose the female oppression in pornography. although I do suppose this film shows one of the two sides.. I wouldn't recommend it but its not a bad little film to watch.
Tad Pole " . . . disgust me." James Franco, as "cokehead" trial lawyer Francis, 18-year-old title porn starlet "Cherry's" (nee Angelina) short-term sugar daddy, seems out-of-character in his kiss-off remarks to her, and certainly not very WWCD (that is, What Would Charlie Sheen Do). This feature debut of writer\director Stephen Elliott is not marked by any particular strengths in its characterizations. Like most direct-to-video flicks featuring DVD covers that will pass the "sniff test" in "family" video stores while suggesting young female nudity, the actual amount of sex and birthday suits displayed in the movie itself is liable to leave the renter feeling ripped-off (even it he or she has waited until this title made its way to the two-for-a-dollar section of the store). Lacking the weight of a TV "after school special," this effort at "sexploitation" concludes with a moral along the lines of "every nice girl should do at least one porno to sow her wild oats, but then get behind the camera before the next big AIDS scare comes along." If the intention here is to make sex boring, ABOUT CHERRY succeeds nicely.
Tejas Nair What a lousy act to choose a clichéd & somewhat-ubiquitous topic to make a directorial debut movie on! I was intrigued by the title and in tandem expected an untold story. But, what About Cherry delivers has already been read, filmed, published, sung or even enacted a hundred times. So the story is typical. Plot revolves around a bunch of other characters related/unrelated to the lead and they introduce some of those LGBT relationship dramas. That is genuine. The porn aura made it look gaudy but yes, now I completely know how they make an actual porn movie & how girls fall prey into the multi-billion dollar worth industry.Performances are good enough with Ashley & Heather doing good. Patel is good, too. Yet, the climax fails to pick up the pieces. It gives a conclusion but falls short in adding a noble inference. Plus, the whole experience has the greatest potential of fading it off your memory. 5/10.BOTTOM LINE: Nothing new. Wait for a free copy or pass. Can be watched with a typical Indian family?
