There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

The movie runs over 2 1/2 hours, and it can seen to drag. But the movie is so entertaining that I didn't really care. The movie takes perspective of Mozart's life from a man who claims to have killed him. Taken to a mental hospital, he tells a priest about how Mozart rose to fame and made him jealous. I have seen this twice(I was distracted with other things upon my first viewing) and it entertained me more the 2nd time. It has great humor, a great cast(Mozart is Tom Hulce-who voicewd Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame), beautiful cinemtography-which I never comment on, and everything is just perfection-even if the plot dwindles here and there. It's a movie worthy of its Oscars and its absolutely worth your time. I'm going to even go as far as to say it's a must see!Note: The director's cut has an R rating. This is due to some brief nudity that may even go unnoticed. Anyone 11-12 and up can see this masterpiece!

This film is so good, interesting and entertaining that I would like the movie to last forever. The strong point of Amadeus is that we wish the best for the 2 characters, Mozart, a childish adult who thinks only of his own success and Salieri who wishes the misfortune for Mozart however we understand the two points of view. The dialogues are interesting, the performances of the 2 actors are memorable, the cinematography is beautiful and the realization of Milos Forman is excellent and of course the music is sublime. What to ask for more. One of the best movies of the 80's.

Too many bangs! Well, they don't come any better these days. Did the camera ever capture such ephemeral emotions, or did it switch to CG... well folks, this movie has too much of impossible positives, and the world can only handle so much (believe me, or read your newspaper). I'll proceed chronologically... gluttony succeeded by deflation, innocence succeeded by truth, and, guilt succeeded by absolution. Imagine a magician of colors playing to an audience of the colorblind but one. Imagine a gossamer apparatus touched by the imperfect. How does one restore back the magic? Perhaps the perfect can only come out of the imperfect. Mayhap our enemy only waits for us to spread our arms. Some things can't be undone, but some things are just meant to be. Oh a world with the focus of the protagonist and the disdain of the mundane!
Listen to this 'film' if you can't watch it enough now and then.

I saw this movie last Saturday and was pretty excited because I had read all the raving reviews and heard what a masterpiece it was. Then, when I actually watched it, I was like...what's the big deal about this movie? The bad things:It was WAY too long. There's nothing wrong with long movies, but only if the story is engaging and interesting. Amadeus was just slow and boring. In my opinion, there was no reason for this film to be 3 hours long. No matter how impressive and extravagant costumes and backdrops are, it does not make a movie exciting. This is a problem I've seen in quite a few big-budget films. About two hours into the film, I got very, very sleepy and I could barely keep my eyes open (okay, this might have been because I was watching the movie at 11pm). The good things:F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce both did a good job. I didn't see a single flaw in their performances. The brief scenes of the insane asylum were effectively disturbing. The costumes, scenery, style, etc, all seemed to be intact. Giving Amadeus that quirky laugh was...a fun idea, I must admit. So the bottom line is, I won't watch this movie again but I'm glad I saw it once. And 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' was a much better film by Milos Forman.
