In Europe, they speak of him in holy whispers. In America, he's a mysterious footnote. Poised for huge commercial success, Jeff Buckley's untimely death kept him on the periphery of popular music. "Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckley", a passionately crafted documentary, sets out to investigate the extraordinary phenomenon of Jeff Buckley, a deceased musician of modest commercial success, with only one full-length album, who has become a veritable tour de force of inspiration for artists across the globe. Interviews include all four of the Jeff Buckley Band members, friends, family, colleagues, critics, DJ's, producers, and fans. From Sydney, New York, and London to Memphis, Montpelier, and Los Angeles, the film takes viewers on an expansive yet incredibly intimate trip through the world of Jeff Buckley, and explores how he continues to inspire his fans - from classical composers to rock n' roll superstars and everyone in-between.

Numerootno A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Celia A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Sasha Amazing Grace is a solid introduction (made by two Buckley fans) to the most extraordinary singer and musician to come out of the 1990's. The true core of this doc revolves around the talent and allure that creates the kind of artist who influences people rather than just entertains them. The film's narrative is unusual in that it subtly entwines the progression of Buckley's musical career with stories from different artists who describe how Jeff personally inspired them. The time frame focuses on his early years in NYC to his last months in Memphis before he drowned. Even though it only runs about an hour, and doesn't answer a lot of questions about Buckley's personal life, it leaves a strong sense of who he was as an artist and human being. I caught the film at the Seattle Film Festival years ago and remember it deeply resonating. I only just realized the film had finally been released and bought the DVD as part of the Grace Around The World DVD set.
balazsorosz Since his sudden death, Jeff Buckley represents what has been a crucially missing part from modern contemporary music. He pushed the boundaries deliberately and put down decades worth of material onto just two discs. He is missed and this documentary is just another proof of his much missed presence. This documentary has been created on the basis of his short lived carrier - with results pretty much arguable. Unfortunately the way one remaining relative handles the legacy of Jeff's music is pretty much unloyal. A shame that hundreds of hours of live material is resting in the lap of his mother who only wants to preserve his son's legacy by not releasing a thing from Jeff's vaults but creating false myths and productions based on doubtful theories (just like this release.) Numerous FM recordings are laying ahead without the slightest chance of getting released in their finest, pristine quality because of other "would-be" business things apart from Columbia. Unfortunately not one box set has emerged glorifying Jeff's spectacular live performances since his tragic quit in 1997.While we have real documentaries and footages of him performing we could make more out of his magnificent art. Period.
