Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
Cristal The movie really just wants to entertain people.
Uriah43 This movie begins in a boardroom where an executive named "Gordon Mitchell" (Morris Chestnut) is trying to convince his sponsors to keep funding a pet project. However, having seen no results so far they are extremely skeptical until he reveals a huge secret—there is a rare flower in Borneo known as "the Blood Orchid" which may prolong life indefinitely. Needless to say this gets everyone's attention real fast and they immediately agree to provide funds for an immediate expedition. The problem is that this particular flower is located in an isolated part of the country and during the rainy season it is next-to-impossible to procure a boat to take anybody up the dangerous river to where it is located. Fortunately, they find the right person and a small group of people proceed on their journey. What they don't realize is that there are giant anacondas between them and this particular flower and these incredibly large snakes are extremely hungry. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that I happened to like this film a bit more than its predecessor in large part because of the awful performance of Jon Voight in the previous movie. Be that as it may, I thought this sequel contained more than enough adventure, suspense and beautiful scenery to keep my attention. Likewise, having two pretty actresses like KaDee Strickland (as "Sam Rogers") and Salli Richardson-Whitfield ("Gail Stern") certainly didn't hurt either. In any case, I liked this film and because of that I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
Python Hyena Anacondas: The Hunt for Blood Orchid (2004): Dir: Dwight Little / Cast: Johnny Messner, Kadee Strickland, Morris Chestnut, Matthew Marsden, Karl Yune: Despite complaints, I found Anaconda somewhat enjoyable fast pace thriller. How unfortunate that it is followed up with this over expensive mess. This is not connected to the original film other than it has more than one snake. Setup is rushed with researchers needing a boat to head out into the middle of nowhere to find a rare flower that is only in bloom for another two weeks and will not be available again for many years. It apparently has some sort of youth formula. Puh-lease! Dwight Little directs half-heartedly using way too many close ups of a paranoid monkey. Perhaps it was embarrassed with the film it was caught in. Little previously made Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Cast includes Johnny Messner, Kadee Strickland, Morris Chestnut, and Matthew Marsden and they are all there to be fast food for giant snakes. Did any of these hopefuls actually consider this a good career move or did they walk into this like brave job suicide? The first film received much criticism but its pacing and action allows it to be at least an entertaining watch. Pointless sequel with only its slithery effects to compliment otherwise forget Blood Orchid and hunt for the nearest toilet to dispatch this film into. Score: 1 / 10
OllieSuave-007 Marketed as a sequel to the B-movie Anaconda, this picture is actually a movie with a completely different plot and story, where a scientific expedition goes on a quest to Borneo to find a flower called the Blood Orchid, which creates longevity. However, along the way, they became face to face with man-eating giant snakes.Unlike the previous film, there is a little more plot or story to the movie, which elaborates on the hunt for the red orchid and the expedition's journey through the jungle/swamp. But, like the first one, there is a lot of CGI/robotic snake action, the typical monster-chase-victim scenes, lots of screaming and people arguing and fighting one another. There's plenty of action to make the movie whisk by, followed by some campy acting and silly surprises to make the movie at least mildly entertaining. Watch this only if you have absolutely nothing else to do or nothing else to watch on TV.Grade C
Ricardo Mokwena The first Anaconda was exceptional with a realistic created puppet version of the snake, some eye candy courtesy of 'Jennifer Lopez',the creepy portrayal of an out of control frantic by 'Jon Voight' and 'Ice Cube' whom supposedly was to spark some flavor to the movie.Despite the not so good storyline it all worked well and the movie was a box office success. But then the sequel came through with a well written storyline, catchy dialog and not so famous actors whom all were heading for the biggest break in the careers had the movie become a hit.The atmosphere was well groomed as the audience worldwide was anticipating a sequel where there would be more snakes and more people to feed from, but the latter failsMake no mistake though as the plot unfolds well with good characterization 'although some of the actors depiction of the characters were too bogus as well as aggravating such as 'Jonny Messner' as 'Bill Johnson' in the lead role',who was intended to be atrocious and charming, but turned out to be more misplaced and feeble. The only convincing actor was 'Eugene Byrd' as 'Cole' who turned out to be in the wrong movie. The production design was terrific. The action is far too over the top especially the scene with the crocodile and the snakes movements are too unbelievable making the movie fade away from its original concept of using puppets. It doesn't build up and creep up on you as its predecessor and other movies of animals attacking people like 'Jaws'(which was done on a shoestring budget),'The Ghost & The Darkness' (which is packed with the fright and the seriousness of a jungle horror adventure).Instead what the director 'Dwight Little' wanted to achieve turns into humor as it all happens too fast and leaves a lot to the mind.I found myself laughing most of the time than having the lights scared out of me and wanting to know when will it end.Anaconds 2 could have worked well as a comedy instead.I recommend it for those who are looking for an adventure but with nothing serious in mind and very forgettable.
