What a beautiful movie!

Absolutely amazing

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Edwin
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

I actually watched 'anniyan' before i watched the original Hollywood ones and I loved it that time. Later got very disappointed seeing how director shankar, shamelessly ripped from multiple Hollywood movies to make this. There is nothing original in the movie, expect the comedy scenes and songs Theme of the movie is copied from a Hollywood classic called seven (killing people based on sins) and primal fear(the whole split personality scenes and climax, only addition from primal fear is remo, for songs). Action scenes are ripped from kill bill and matrix, sort of mixed them both, like how he mixed seven and primal fear to come up with the script. Sorry, Shankar fans, I am just sharing my disappointment to find out that one of my favourite Indian movie is not at all original.

Those of you who are going into this movie thinking its going to be awesome your gonna be disappointed. This is an Indian remake of combined movies so it lacks in many aspects. Comedy is OK but dwindles down in towards the middle. Vikram did a good job at acting his role. This movie got a lot of awards and all but I personally don't see what was so great. It is an OK movie if you want to kill some time. A few good songs esp. "Kumari". very beautiful. They could have explained the origins of the punishments a little more for those of us who aren't familiar with the "puranas" and all.Overall I give it a C+. OK, not great.

So lets see - Anniyan just bagged a whole bunch of Indian Awards. The Limca book of records says that this movie cost 30 crore to make. I'm a die hard Shankar fan and still fail to see why this movie is so hyped. It was an extreme let down and one could enjoy it only if he kept an extremely open mind and had to force himself to see past all the major flaws and unintentional humor. I really wanted this movie to rock but it did not and that was a fact. You have to be pretty naive to fall for it. Every single thing in this movie seems second rate and undercooked. Remo was the most annoying character in the history of both Indian and Foreign cinema. The story was predictable and has no twists whatsoever. This movie is more like the peanuts that accompany your drinks rather than the deep and meaningful experiences that Shankar's movies usually are.I guess the following was its budgetary allocation, Vikram, Vivek, Sada and all other acting fees of all extras - 15 Crore Fees of other technical crew - 10 crore Cost to bribe theaters to keep it running - 4.9999999999999 crore SFX, Sets and equipment - Rest

What a terrible disappointment this movie was. Shankar was pathetic in trying to churn out a mediocre entertainer to fill his pocket rather than go with the type of new and graphically controvertial ideas that come into mind which make his movies so exclusive. Heres where Anniyan fails,Plot - Essentially a repeat of Indian and Mudhalvan and not as good as either by far. This time around, the people get blamed for their behavior in society. When you think about it, it did a little bit of potential and the movie could have been a bit more violent and used some better ideas devoid of clichés. All the familiar stories show up.Acting - The worst ever. The bad deeds done by society are all unconvincing, look intentional for the camera and are done by too many familiar actors who you simply can't picture playing such roles. Vikram's acting is highly overrated and utterly stupid as that Remo character. In all of Shankar's movies, the acting was super realistic to the extent that it shocked you. Not here. It was lame. Prakash Raj just plays himself and is an unconvincing police officer.Action - Horrid, comical style fight scenes with a 3rd rate repeat of matrix and kill bill fight scenes with 1/50th the budget. The stunt and camera guys really ripped Shankar off.Comedy - Very good. Vivek keeps the movie going. Some other characters also deliver good comedy. Songs - No AR Rehman. Nuff said.Special effects - Why do stupid 3D Graphics and CGI done by the worst ever teams keep showing up? They have no point whatsoever. They are embarrassing. Did Shankar really think that the audience was dumb enough to buy that Anniyan 3D animated an entire world using only Macromedia Flash? If you look at Boys, you can see that Shankar really wanted to make his movies as graphic and realistic as possible. This movie is neither. It tries to be and look violent but poor screenplay and poor cinematography ruin it. Anniyan is more of kids flick than a shocking Shankar thriller.
