Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
blumdeluxe "Antboy: Revenge of Red Fury" is the second part of the Antboy series and deals Antboy, who has to face a disappointed fan turned evil, while fighting for the love and attention of his chosen girl. Meanwhile old enemies see their chance for a pay-back.As you can maybe already tell from the few sentences above, the plot is rather complicated, being built up from several topics that get woven together rather unsatisfying at times. Still the story-line remains easy to follow and delivers enough entertainment to prevent any boredom. Like in many adult superhero movies, Antboy has to face more than just one opponent and like there I don't really like it because it keeps you from focusing on one solid story. Also generally I think that the producers had in mind those kind of movies during the filming which is in most scenes a benefit, making the sequences appear less childish. Some of the logic behind the events is a bit drastic, for example Marias reaction to everything that happens but you should also keep in mind that this movie aims at children as audiences mainly and thus lays less focus on realism or unpredictability. All in all I had my fun but would have hoped for the producers to stay away from more of the rather unsubtle stereotypes that prevent the establishment of more diverse and complex characters. Otherwise there's not much more left to say than that a vegan probably stole the director's girl given his excessive hatred towards them.
monkweirdo It's one of the most painful and awkward superhero movie I've ever found. What can I say? It's poorly written, has dumb illogical things, the acting is a bit better than in the first move. But for some weird reason I've had more fun watching this than any other movie ever. 10/10 A move I'll be watching over and over again.
TxMike This is the first sequel to the Antboy series of movies. Mainly for kids but it can also be enjoyed as light entertainment for anyone. The first movie, like most superhero movies, established the character and showed how he became it, in this case being bitten by a genetically altered ant. Having ant characteristics he needs sugar, just as Popeye needs spinach.Oscar Dietz is back as Pelle ('pell-luh'), the kid who dons his costume to be Antboy. Samuel Ting Graf is back as his best friend Wilhelm. And the other one who knows his identity is terminally cute Amalie Kruse Jensen as Ida ('eee-dah'). In a Superman/Lois Lane style Pelle desperately wants to tell Ida he likes her as a girlfriend but something always seems to come up right before he tells her how he feels. As this movie begins the bully brothers are giving a hard time to a young girl at a public outdoor ice rink. Pelle comes to the rescue and afterwards she asks if he will be her guest at an upcoming dance. Reluctantly he says he will but he ends up going only as Pelle, too shy to approach Maria. It is played well by Astrid Juncher-Benzon as Maria. Next is where it takes a typical school kid spurned turn. She vows to get back at him for the snub.It turns out her dad is trying to invent something, a cloaking device that will render him invisible by creative use of light waves. But it doesn't work. However Maria being the clever one figures out how to make it work so she starts to do her revenge wearing a red costume and using the invisibility technique. It is just a silly, fun story, no one gets hurt too badly, and eventually Maria and Pelle explain themselves to each other and agree to combine to fight crime in their little community.I watched it on Netflix streaming movies, with English subtitles. I see the next Anyboy movie is in post-production.
Reno Rangan It's been a year and half since the first part I saw, so I don't remember much. But I know it was short and sweet little superhero movie for children, like this one. A theme like this might end as a trilogy, but I never thought they would make a sequel after the average first film. Still, there is not much different between the two, especially when it comes to the stunts, very light. The story was a decent one, would have made an impact with the stunning action sequences. But keeping the little children in mind, the film falls soft and family friendly. In this movie, the narration picks-up not too far from where it ended in the previous film. The Antboy is quite famous now, especially among the school kids. So that is where the story develops when he fails to keep the promise he made to one of his fans. The humiliated fan wants to take a revenge. Instead, it complicates further when a couple more supervillains emerge and challenges the town's favourite superhero, the Antboy. Bringing an end to all of this leads to one last battle before the credits roll."A real hero is the one that allows all of us on the outside to feel that we're not alone."In the previous film, most of them were fresh faced and their performances have been only a just acceptable. Especially the Antboy's that I was worried about. I know the story demands geeky kid just like Spiderman and Superman when they were not in the superhero costume to keep the low profile. But now I see well progressed and a very professional lead boy. From the opening title and credits to till the end the visuals were high standards. Sometimes I thought the presentation was imitating the Marvels, mostly the 'Kick-Ass' with those comic pictures. The Red Fury was introduced in a style, the new superpower character. Along the terror tvilling, whose superpower was inherited by the beetles. Totally a bug's world, the clash of the insects should we say. Listen this film (series) is just for fun, I believe any grownups won't take it a very seriously. If you are not interested, simply skip it, but I advise you to show the film to your little ones. The characters might be based on the Danish children's book, but somewhat looks like a mixed spoof of some of the great Hollywood flicks. Only a slightly betters the first film from the technical side, yet a very simple silly follow-up.6½/10
