I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

This is an excellent documentary that is probably the most optimistic and hopeful film about the real world today I have seen. While it clearly emphasizes the role that women can play in effecting change, it's equally about creative approaches to environmental and social issues.Although it features women, as a a man I never felt criticized or even uneasy, just very proud of these remarkable women. Overall, the film is technically very well done; the photography is excellent, and the musical soundtrack diverse, engaging and appropriate to the wide range of topics presented. This film is a "must see" for all ages, but I particularly recommend it to young people as inspiration for ways they too might help the world.

This is an eye-opening view of how some women across the globe have become leaders in the environmental movement. These women are concentrating on practical solutions to a wide variety of local problems instead of piling onto political bandwagons long on rhetoric and short on "on the ground" success. The initiatives range from the Green Belt Movement in Kenya to the creation of parks in The Bronx. Some of the projects were focusing more on creating justice than on a specific environmental purpose (not that the projects were unworthy of attention). The narration, at times, was a tad overstated, but entertaining all the same. It's a pleasure to see how the leadership of these women is attracting followers. The photography emphasizes the natural beauty of these sites around the world. The whole enterprise makes one feel optimistic and inspires us to make our own changes, albeit small and personal, to better the world.

I was surprised to see that the rating for this film was not higher then it should be but when I looked at the user ratings I saw most of them were made by older men. When I saw the film in Denver, the crowd was spilling out of the doors (they had to bring in more chairs), the audience was cheering, crying and laughing (yes even the men) and the discussion afterwards was fruitful and inspiring. One person said, "this is the best environmental film I have ever seen", and I agree with that statement. It makes you want to get up and do something instead of live in fear of what is to come. The women profiled are amazing. The music and Daryl Hannah takes you on a journey throughout the world and you will be inspired. Please bring this film to your town!

Arise is a fresh look at women across the globe who are invested in not only preserving, but improving the ecology in their part of the world. Amazing stories of how each woman understands and perseveres in her role in making lives around her more aware of the ecologic needs in her country.Very inspirational to not only women who choose to view Arise, but also to men.It was very encouraging to see what can be done by one person, and inspirational to me to know that I can make a difference in my own part of the world.Thank you to the film team for providing these in-depth looks into the world around us.Fascinating!
