Really Surprised!
Inclubabu
Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

I really like the unique chaotic feel kusturica has in his films. the super inappropriately loud music that plays while people are having important conversations are hilarious. amazing acting by amazing actors. it also has that dreamy vibe to it that makes every odd thing feel normal.its about a young new yorker that moves to arizona and falls in love with an older woman.

Arizona DreamThis was filmed before both Benny & Joon and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, but then sat on the shelf for two years, before finally getting a limit released. Some movies only work if you are willing to suspend disbelief. Since I believe in worlds where a man can fly, shooting oxygen tanks can blow sharks up, one man can take down an entire army and galaxy's far, far away that's obviously not a problem for me. This is one such movie. Like most of Depp's brilliant work back then, this slipped through the cracks. It's a movie where you have no idea what will happen next, we see Ambulances to the moon, turtles, thunderstorms, suicide by bungee cord and Depp counting fish, or is he listening to their dreams??There is no predictability or by the numbers nonsense here. You really do not know where it's headed.. Depp is great and is ably backed up by the legends that are Jerry Lewis, and Faye Dunnaway. I suspect Hollywood loathe to make movies like this. Letting a director have full creative control and freedom to put his vision up on the screen. Arizona Dream grossed $122,000 during its limited release.

"Arizona Dream" is the first, and so far only, English-language, shot-in-America film of Emir Kusturica. It was not a commercial success, and it's easy to see why: it's an unmarketable, unclassifiable film. It's about dreams, love, loss, and movies (but not necessarily in that order). It runs nearly two and a half hours, the characters are all oddballs, it switches from broad comedy to intense drama at a moment's notice, and it has a depressing ending. And yet, there is something to be said about a director who breaks the "rules" of movie-making, such as the traditional "three-act" structure. "Arizona Dream", like a dream, is more about the journey than the destination: the journey is sometimes bumpy, but often magical (there are a couple of amazing scenes, for which it is better to be unprepared); Goran Bregovic's music is extraordinarily powerful, and the entire cast is great. *** out of 4.

An Innuit hunter races his sled home with a fresh-caught halibut. This fish pervades the entire film, in real and imaginary form. Meanwhile, Axel tags fish in New York as a naturalist's gofer. He's happy there, but a messenger arrives to bring him to Arizona for his uncle's wedding. It's a ruse to get Axel into the family business. In Arizona, Axel meets two odd women: vivacious, needy, and plagued by neuroses and familial discord. He gets romantically involved with one, while the other, rich but depressed, plays accordion tunes to a gaggle of pet turtles.Strange hallucinatory trip of a film that looks cool but falls flat. Why someone called this a "european" film when it was filmed in the US is beyond me. Johnny Depp without the faux brit accent is a boring Depp. It reminds us he's not such a great actor.Jerry Lewis is a jerk.
