Maidgethma Wonderfully offbeat film!
Nonureva Really Surprised!
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Freeman This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
greekdx As a fan of Flixster, posting very short movie reviews , I seldom write postings here , although my account here is older , due to the requirements of IMDb to post critics of at least 10 paragraphs My daughter is now 4 years old and as with other young girls she is a fan of Barbie not to mention the dolls and the mini laptop she was 'gifted' from Santa Claus ! Recently a TV magazine offered at low price part of Barbie's series of CDs i.e. for the price of ca 6 Euros .as in result I have bought a part of movies I did not own. Not to mention this movie has been watched twice in one day! This is in contrast to what we persuaded our baby to watch only 1' hour per day .This is what happened also with 3 musketeers three weeks ago ! MY aim here is to add some more interested topics not found from other commenter s:-IN our version (Greek ) all the songs were really operettas . Does it happen to the original movie? This makes an outdated /backwards style of this movie - the after movie 'cut scenes' . it is as like it was performed by real actors . This makes feel even funnier considering tat all these characters are really computer animation !In contrast to other commenter I think that the scene of the 'man' who jailed the princess into the mining factory is a bit more 'R' rated
Day-Dreamer This movie was the first Barbie movie that i completely love! As they say in the commercials, this is the first movie Barbie sings and i loved all of the songs and dances. They are just so well written. Since none of my friends liked the movie and since i loved it so well, i had to kind of keep it a secret until the day that i forced all of my friends to watch it and guess what! They loved it also! They all kept singing the songs randomly everywere and they didn't care if people were stairing at them because the songs make you feel so good about yourself. I completely think everyone should watch this movie, its amazing!
wyomike Some of the sweetest words I've heard lately were, "Daddy, come watch Barbie with me." After she feel asleep in my arms, I finished the movie... re-wound it and watched some scenes again. I later rented the movie again for myself... uh, err, I mean for her of coarse... okay, I have no pride.I thought the lyrics and music were world level excellent. The delicate, innocent emotions captured by the animators were heart melting and Martin Short's voice work was hilarious.I think if this was a more innocent time, "Arnie Roth" (composer) would be listed among the greats. Hmmmm, Rogers and Hammerstein? - maybe more still to come from this great talent.A definite top 500 best movies of all time.
robinlynng I bought the DVD as soon as it came out. I've watched it with my grand-daughter about a dozen times. I still can't get some of the songs out of my head. I sing along. I buy all the Barbie movies and this has to be the best.I'd actually like to see a stage production of this. If it's done by young people, even better.Let's remember, the target audience is young girls.......I'd like to know of just one girl that has the movie, but didn't watch it more than once. And they know the words to all the songs. (okay, so do I). What on earth could they have done to make it better?
