lewiskendell Bedtime Stories is cute, and it will do a good job of amusing kids. The titular stories are imaginative and droll, but I found myself wishing that more of the movie consisted of these visually appealing sequences. They weren't frequent enough and only lasted for a brief time. The real world sequences just weren't as charming. As far as the cast goes, I can't really complain about anyone's performance. Adam Sandler was doing his usual thing, minus the profanity. Keri Russell plays the love interest about as straightforwardly as possible. Russell Brand plays the wacky sidekick role and Courtney Cox is pretty much just there, with no real role in the story except for providing a reason for Adam Sandler to keep the kids (who are just as adorable as you would expect from this kind of movie). Teresa Palmer stands out basically because she is so mind-numbingly gorgeous that she immediately draws the eye when on screen. Hopefully she will have a long American movie career. There really was no questionable material in the movie, so any kid can watch it without seeing or hearing something that they shouldn't. Adults will probably have a pleasant time watching Bedtime Stories once, but there's really not enough humor here to make anyone besides kids want to watch it twice. But as long as children like it (and they will), I think Bedtime Stories is a pretty successful little movie.
slightlymad22 "Bedtime stories" is not your typical Adam Sandler movie, as it is more aimed at children. Plot In A Paragraph: Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) is the handyman of a posh hotel. He is looked down upon by the general manager, the arrogant Kendall (Guy Pearce) who is engaged to the shallow Violet (Teresa Palmer) who is the daughter of the Hotels owner Barry Notingham (Richard Griffiths) When Skeeters sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) needs to travel to Arizona for a job interview. Wendy asks her friend Jill to watch her son Patrick and her daughter Bobbi during the day and Skeeter to watch them during the night. Skeeter makes up bedtime stories to help them to sleep but soon Skeeter realises that the plot of the stories are coming true and affecting his life. Adam Sandler is his usual self, as was Courtney Cox in her smaller role. Keri Russell is lovely as Jill, the two child actors who played Patrick and Bobbi were both fine and managed to stay clear of all the child actor cliché's, and Guy Pearce was suitably slimy and annoying. However for me Russell Brand was the stand out as Mickey, Skeeters best friend and co worker.
silverpatriotpictures Bedtime Stories (Starring Adam Sandler) is a creative, funny, adventurous story. It really unlocks what can happen in a child's imagination, and how that though in your mind can turn into reality.Of course Adam was a great actor in this movie and you have every right to laugh of how he puts the script into his mind and really pronounces it in a funny way. We rate it a 9/10 FOR laughs, actors, and of course bedtime stories. Made by Disney, this movie was wild from the beginning and you should know because every Disney has fun and laughter.Probably every child should like this because it's mixed in with: Action, Drama, Romance, Comedy and Adventure. We Would advise a 5+ year old to watch this.-Thank you for reading this ReviewSilver Patriot Pictures
callanvass If you didn't know, I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan anymore. He's gotten increasingly lazy, and continues to disappoint me with each new comedy he puts out these days. Jack and Jill is a disgrace to cinema, and anyone with half a brain should realize that. Adam can be very funny and endearing when he wants to be, which is far too seldom for my liking. I saw this when it first came out, and remember enjoying it for what it was. I was in the mood for something light and fluffy, and thought what the hell? Thankfully, my initial feelings of this movie from a few years ago stayed put. I was rewarded with a somewhat enchanting fantasy that had a lot of heart. I don't know whether if it's the fact that Sandler decided to tone down his lewd humor, or actually put some effort, but this is without a doubt one of his best recent movies. This movie has plenty of sentiment, but it's done in a very cute way. Sandler doesn't show contempt for his audience this time around and actually provides a good message by telling you that hard works and dreams can pay off. Adam Sandler is OK, but he's lucky to have a great supporting cast. Sandler has a few funny lines, and manages to keep his arrogant humor level and bearable. Tolerable is a big step up for Sandler as far as I'm concerned. Keri Russell makes for a cute love interest. She's easy on the eyes and has charm to spare. She's one of the most underrated talents in Hollywood. Russell Brand is slightly amusing at times, annoying at others. Guy Pearce is effectively slimy as Sandler's nemesis. Teresa Palmer plays a gorgeous heiress, not much of a performance. Courtney Cox is rather wasted as Sandler's sister, whilst Griffiths, Lawless, Pryce, and others do well. On an additional note, I have to give credit to the two kids for being likable. I don't usually like kid actors. The finale is a tad ludicrous, but it's still fun. I found Brand translating Sandler's bee sting language absurd, but the action packed finale was definitely creative, especially for a movie like thisFinal Thoughts: If you're sick of Sandler like I am, and you feel the need to watch one of Sandler's recent movies? This is a good choice. It's nothing outstanding what so ever, but I found it to be fairly enjoyable. 5.8/10
