I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

A live action adaptation of the animated Ben 10 series may have sounded really good on paper. Throughout the series, Ben and Gwen were on summer vacation with their grandpa Max. Now in this movie, we get to see how the two characters adjust back to normal school life while juggling Ben's secret hero career; definitely something never before seen in the series. Also the story deals with a plot by a time manipulating alien known as "Eon" who plans to use Ben and the omnitrix to take over the world. In addition to that, Ben and the PLUMBERS must deal with the revelation of a new plot device known as the "Hands of Armageddon" that, when activated, would create untold damage. A combination of new and familiar elements riding the wave of live action adaptations of animated series would no doubt have been a huge hit. Sadly, Ben 10 Race against time comes across as cheap, B grade, kids' holiday special and nothing more.Speaking of "time", this entire movie looks a lot older than it is. At best, it resembles the cheesy Power Rangers movie of 1995 in not just the set designs and special effects but the dialog, acting and overall "feel". Everything just looks insultingly cheap and years behind the standard of special effects even in sci/fi TV series.Though the main characters of Ben and Gwen resemble the physical appearance of their animated counterparts, their child actors just cannot convey the familiar personalities of those beloved characters. The acting, especially for Gwen, is very flat and feels forced. "The Six million Dollar Man" star Lee Majors is horribly miscast as grandpa max and the rest of the adult characters are either one dimensional kid movie stereotypes or comic relief characters. At very least, this movie has heart. The interactions between Ben, Gwen and Max are earnest and believable with the themes of cooperation, responsibility and family loyalty carried over from the original series. The side characters such as Ben's parents, the principle(played by Star Trek Voyager's Robert Picardo) and the rest of the PLUMBERS are entertaining in their antics but some of the humor feels very out of place. With fight choreography that looks worse than "Tattooed Teenage Alien fighters from Beverly Hills", disgraceful Computer generated effects and other flaws or deviations from the original that the more hardcore Ben 10 fans will no doubt take issue with, Ben 10: Race Against time is a sad failure by cartoon network to cash in on the popularity of the Ben 10 franchise. Only simple minded kids could derive any pleasure from watching this poor attempt at a live action sequel to one of the most well loved original animated series in recent years.

I am ashamed to say that I am a big Ben 10 fan..(at the tender age of 40)...lol.....I DVR'd this move in great anticipation, after watching the secret of the omnitrix, and watching almost every episode of ben 10 and ben 10 alien force, with my 10 year old daughter...We enjoy the rest of the genre, my little girl is a big "Gwen" fan. As for the live action version ...egads!!...Thats 15 minutes I will never get back, good thing I didn't have a brick to bang my head with, I would have need stitches. I don't blame the actors, even lee majors for this groaner, I blame the idjits who produced and wrote the nasty blend of power ranger/ ben 10/ and "hey what can I do with my new video editing program......You could clog the arteries of an army with the cheese of this so called movie.....My little girl even told me "Dad ...that was stupid"...and she likes hello kitty....to put it in perspective...blahhh......riff

The good- Ben 10's aliens looked cool, especially Wildmutt. Eon is an OK villain. I'm glad that I got to see the P.L.U.M.B.E.R.S. The action was pretty good. I'm glad that I got to see the aliens in live-action.The bad-Grandpa Max does not look close to how he looked in the series. Gwen didn't have any magical powers. There was no villain from the series. Without the commercials, it is only a little bit over an hour. I would have liked to see more aliens. I wish that it didn't take so long for the movie to air. I waited for like two months to see it. I was kind of impressed with the movie. I would have liked Eon's henchman to not look like Power Rangers villains.

Okay, I'm a little ticked off right now, so i'm going to use some objectionable language in this review.Ahem... all of the guys above me who gave Race Against Time a rating lower than a 7 are dumbasses. This was a great move, and for many reasons. The acting was great. Especially Eon, who was just a natural character to the movie. The action sequences were top-notch and well choreographed, especially for a mere 5-million-dollar budget. Only bad acting was on Haley Ramm's part, but thank God Alex Winters made Gwen a minor character here. This movie also ties into the show well, too. It has a similar explanation of the Omnitrix, the Omnitrix itself looks exactly like in the show, and the Rustbucket looked perfect, despite Eon destroying it.I can go on and on about this, but I'll stop here. RAT is a good movie. Awesome at that.10/10
