I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

This was in my opinion without a doubt the best work Charlie Sheen ever delivered. Awesome movie that doesn't inspire you to take a bathroom brake. Fantastic acting (Not just by Sheen, but Madsen is also in rare form here.), great dialog. Not overdone. You can really understand why he comes to view them as his friends. Being the viewer even find yourself liking these guys and the family feeling they seem to have amongst each other. I did however like Fixing the shadow as the better title. The story from the Indian really plays out as being his life in the near future. He lost his shadow along the way and needs to fix it. That is what the movie is really about. The inner conflict and how it's played out. But maybe that's just me. I like it when a title actually means something.

In my opinion this is the best movie of Charlie Sheen's career. I have 2 copies of this movie and watch it several times a year. It's based on a true story and is realistic of what happens when a cop goes undercover and a fairly good depiction of the biker lifestyle. Sheen is very believable in his portrayal of Dan Saxon. The real Dan Saxon plays an extra in this movie so I'm sure its as realistic as it could possibly be and still get made in Hollywood. I figured out who the real Dan Saxon is but since he's a former undercover agent I don't think its right to say who it is in this format. There are some parts that are obviously enhanced for dramatic effect but these parts shouldn't be held against this otherwise well made film. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing the parts with the Indian 'Bogus Charlie' are more a product of Hollywood than reality but this is only my speculation. This is definitely a movie that you should own and watch instead of seeing the edited version on TV. Why it never got critical recognition is beyond me. It's better than most movies that get nominated every year that aren't worth watching once much less owning on DVD or VHS. Buy it..you won't regret it.

the other person that reviewed this said it was a guy movie. i don't think this is so, the story is really deep and emotional as far as sheens character does, madsen is his usual self, bad-ass lol its one of those movies that really gets to you and takes you through the emotions of sheens character, for instance when he thinks things are getting good u sit up and take notice of how good things are, then things turn crappy and u really feel it, i agree with the other review tho that Charlie sheen should have definitely won some award for this.. he plays the part so well, i see him as a comedian but in this movie its strictly serious and its probably his best movie everMicky D

This is my favorite movie. I wish they still made movies like this. The acting is so well done in this movie that it almost seems like they are not acting. The chemistry between blood and Sid is awesome. I ride a motorcycle and every time i go to a rally i have to watch this movie. There is a wedding scene in this movie that is far out. I cant believe that no one else ever thought about getting married that way. If you ever wanted to know how to build a motorcycle then this movie is definitely the one to watch. Also something that is really funny, is that my dad looks exactly like Sid. We give my dad a hard time about it and he thinks it is funny. If you like action and suspense then this movie is the way to go.
