A different way of telling a story

The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

Amy Carlson (looking fine) is the woman in charge of a bank's security system. Two dirty cops (played by the slightly washed-up duo of Judd Nelson and Thomas Ian Griffith) kidnap her daughter and a friend to force her to open the safety deposit box of one of her bank's clients and give to them its content. Meanwhile, an investigation about police corruption in the department is already underway....This derivative (think of it as a cross between "Trapped" (which I have seen) and "Don't Say A Word" (which I have not)) thriller lingers too long on the anguish and fear of the desperate mother and the kidnapped daughter, which gives it a rather unpleasant taste. Still, the experienced director manages to get some suspense out of it in places, and Carlson gives a very convincing performance - I'd say she offers more to the film than the film offers to her.
