That was an excellent one.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

If I had to sum up Blackadder's Christmas Carol, I'd say it was Dickens' traditional festive parable turned unashamedly inside out. We know of Edmund Blackadder's selfish, self-centred nature so what better way to approach the tale of seasonal personal epiphany than by turning the good man into an evil one.Edmund is set to spend another year with no money at all - and this is the only Blackadder I've seen, incidentally, where Baldrick is nearly on the same social footing (Edmund calls him "Mr. Baldrick") - until he is visited by the Christmas Spirit (brilliantly played by Robbie Coltrane. I particularly like the way the Spirit's plan to praise Edmund by showing the evil deeds of his ancestors backfires so badly, but I will reveal no more. It's not only Dickens' characters who get parodied here ("Mrs. Scratchit, Tiny Tim is seventeen stone and built like a brick privy! If he eats any more heartily he will burst") but that most iconic of nineteenth century figures, Queen Victoria herself. It is well known that she and her husband Albert truly loved each other and poor Albert is so enthusiastic about the presents he buys that he can keep nothing secret. It is a great tribute to Rowan Atkinson and Ben Elton that I can think of few other writers and actors who can parody a certain time in history so well. Refreshingly entertaining in an entirely different way to most seasonal TV.

This was a welcome addition to the original four series of Black Adder. It is strong on humor and it being one episode, it doesn't get stale or have any comedic lulls. This is sort of an "anti-Christmas Carol" where this Black Adder is the complete opposite of all the previous ones. He is unbelievable kind and giving and as a result, everyone takes complete advantage of him. After being used by pretty much everyone, one of the Christmas Ghosts accidentally comes to his home. Realizing his mistake, the ghost praises Black Adder for his goodness BUT makes the mistake of staying to talk with Black Adder. He accidentally agrees to show him his past incarnations (such as Edmund from "Black Adder 2" and the future Master of the Universe Black Adder). From this accident, Black Adder realizes being nice is for the birds and his future is bright, indeed, if he is 100% selfish and rotten! Nice moral to the story, huh?I think one of the reasons I love this show so much is that there have been too many versions of "A Christmas Carol"--and few of them are that inspired to make them worth making in the first place. After all, we have some excellent versions of the original story and I think the only reason we could use more is if the story is DIFFERENT and not the same old same old--and "Blackadder's Christmas Carol" certainly is different!

Edmund Blackadder is one of the greatest characters British television has ever produced . He`s cruel , selfish and oh so cunning and it`s a bit of a shock to see him undergo a character change and be the kindest man in all of England . But don`t worry , in this reworking of Dickens A CHRISTMAS CAROL Blackadder soon turns into the anti hero we all know and hate
This is a side splitting Christmas feast for fans of the BLACKADDER series and we get flashbacks to series two and three of the historical sit-com and a glimpse of how the show might have looked if it continued into the space age . To be honest I don`t think a science fiction version of BLACKADDER would have worked well but I did find the concept interesting and highly amusing at the same time .Don`t worry if you watch it in the height of summer , you`ll still find it funny

Very funny. British humour at its best once again. The reversal of the christmas carol is a brilliant idea with good imagination put into it. The other added bonus this one off episode offers is that it goes back to the past era's used in the series in small snip-its and shows us once again how the cunning Lord and the money obsessed butler spent there christmases (usually involving beating baldrick up) plus a view of the blackadder family in the distant future. definately check this out. 9 out of 10.
