Reviews

Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Fella_shibby I first saw this on a DVD in 2009. Blood Creek is a very stylish, very original, atmospheric, creepy, tense, interesting n efficient horror film that features a solid cast and good direction by the veteran Schumacher. The movie begins in the 30s on a farmland of a German immigrant family. A nazi (Fassbender) visits their home so he can work on his experiments involving the occult. He is so deep into the black magic, he can bring dead birds back to life. Whoa!Fast forward, a farmer (Cavill) receives a visit one night from his brother (Purcell) who went missing for months in a forest. He ropes his bruv into taking him back to the farm where he had been held captive and getting his revenge on the family that kept him there. The tension n mayhem begins. It has plenty of stuff for horrror fans, blood-drinking, bloodletting, torture, bone-knives through chins, all sorts of shotgun violence, dog stabbings, zombie violence, demon with one eye in the middle of the forehead ( scary one) - very intimidating monster n for the first time a zombie horse. Some may b put off by the hand-held shaky cam work.
Bene Cumb Old symbols, slaughter, eternal life, occultism, indivisible power, abominable freaks, resurrection, blazing fires are just a few elements/topics frequently shown in horror movies - but preferably in limited volumes and not packed into a relatively short creation as it the case with Blood Creek. In addition to all above, the Nazi link was brought in - with the purpose to provide more "real" angle? The cast - apart from Michael Fassbender as Richard Wirth - is not catchy, and the latter's monster outfit resembles too much another famous vicious guy... Both Joel Schumacher and Fassbender have contributed to much stronger creations, the movie in question could have been a good start for a career, but not a work of already established filmmakers. On the other hand, it is no flop or yawning experience.
Nitzan Havoc I'm not sure what to make of this film. I'm a big Horror fan and have pretty much had my share of all types and sub-genres, and Blood Creek simply didn't feel like Horror to me.The story idea was very nice, but not too original (though nice tribute to the villain from Marvel's "Captain America" comics). The only things that could be considered scary were the slight gore scenes (no medical pornography, just lots of blood), the mystical ideas and the fact that it happened at night (unless you count relation top Nazism as horrifying in the literal since of the word). So while there was a nice story idea, the potential was really left unused. Blood Creak is nothing more than a Vampire/Zombie Hunter action film (like Blade or Van Helsing) with a touch (let's be generous and say 10%) of occult-horror. As an action film it's too slow and slightly too realistic, and as an occult-horror film it's not the least scary (as I find gore to be disgusting and sometimes revolting, but not frightening). So the film wasn't a success in any of its features. The almost pathetic attempt to raise its level by adding names like Dominic Purcell and Michael Fassbender to the cast didn't help much, and I'm sure neither of them would list Blood Creak as one of their better performances. All in all, I would take the basic story idea of Nazi related occult and make an entire new film. This one is barely worthy of the time it takes to watch. However, if you feel like a cheap Vampire Hunter film with a touch of gore and an unrelated story - this might do the trick for you. For me, as I said, it didn't.
Brian Bell I assume if you are reading this review you enjoy horror movies to some degree. Blood Creek is by no means a movie you need to own, but its totally worth watching (its currently on Netfilx's Instant Stream in HD and 5.1!). Ignore the fact that this film is a Joel Schumacher film, its no where near as good as The Lost Boys but its MUCH better than Batman & Robin. And for an almost unknown horror action film, its quite fun! The films opening actually starts in the 1930's, in black and white, and is not needed. This scene was probably added by the studio once Michael Fassbender became popular due to Inglorious Bastards, as its the only time you ever see his face without undead makeup. The movie picks up pretty quick from there (now modern day), and soon its two brothers off to battle a family with a dark secret. Soon there is a powerful Nazi (Fassbender, who is part zombie, part necromancer, part vampire) who spawns zombies and undead animals and who will stop at nothing to feed upon the humans remaining at this secluded farmhouse and free himself to terrorize the world. The movie has a lower budget feel to it, with a small cast and the majority of the film taking place at this farm. However, with its action movie pacing, lots of blood and fun gore, and original elements, despite its flaws it a fun 90 minute ride. If after reading this review you are still interested, check this movie out, its a good time. If this doesn't sound like fun, well, go watch something else! Like, My Name is Bruce, perhaps...
