Cody One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Horst in Translation ([email protected]) "Bodo - Eine ganz normale Familie" or "The Wiz Kid" or "Bodo" or "Das Programm" is a West German 1.5-hour film from 1989, so this one was released briefly before the reunification. For director Behrens, it is perhaps the most known career effort, for writers Konstantin and Weber it is the only and the latter is also true for many cast members here, especially the children. The film is advertized heavily by the presence of Heiner Lauterbach, still among Germany's most known today and while he is a pretty charismatic actor, he does not have the biggest range to be honest and that he is still more in the center of it all than everybody else in here says nothing too positive about the film. And the most ridiculous thing is that he has virtually no screen time at all as it is all about the kids, especially Bodo and his clone. So yes the clone story means indeed that they needed identical twins for the central characters here, which obviously limited the number of potential candidates, but honestly they really should have been able to come up with more suitable candidates than the Forbes', especially as apparently they even had to redo his voice. I'm not surprised at all their career was so short-lived from what I saw in here. Admittedly almost all other child actors are just as bad to be honest and sometimes pretty cringeworthy to watch, like the bullies early on for example. This film tries to be a lot: coming-of-age story, first love, modern musical (to some extent), fantasy movie and you will find other genres too. However, it comes truly short in all of these really. Maybe less would have been more here and the lack of talent, also by the writers, not just the (younger) actors is something that is really painful to watch. There are only 2 positive things I can say here: Kukavica was cute and gave maybe the best performance in here, so it is a shame she stopped acting too right away. And the second would be the song "I Want a Heart" we hear very early and very late during this one. It sounded like "hug" instead of "heart" to me, which would have been cuter even perhaps. Anyway, there is a lot wrong with this film. Nothing makes sense and the fictional fantasy genre inclusion cannot explain most of the flaws at all. You will see them when (not if) they are there. But best is really to skip this one in its entirety. This is not a film you want your kids to watch and I am baffled that it has received a bit of a cult status by now, especially abroad as it was really bad in my opinion. Highly not recommended.
despin-1 This is a very good film for kids and teenagers. I was about 13 years old, when I watched it the first time. I especially liked the music scenes. The actress has a very good voice. And she is really cute ;-). It's all about a shy guy, who uses it's genius to create a better image of himself. But things going out of control, when the copy starts his own life and get's the girl, the genius is secretly in love with. But Bodo not only has to fight with his own copy, but also with a school bully and some gangsters, who try to steal his invention. But I think it's not available any more in stores. I search everywhere, but couldn't find it.
pennysong3000 This movie is grand in it's disturbing horror. The son tries to seduce the mother who plays along happily and lustfully, there is a robotic moronic roller-skating chimp-robot that seems to have more human-like emotion than the clone of "the wiz kid". Yes, he clones himself. The dad attacks a cactus while in full Japanese samarai outfit. There is a band of kids who are 13 that have as professional a rehearsal space as Debbie Gibson in her day, yet never are shown playing live. All the voices are poorly overdubbed. The child is once shown nude, which is most horrifying because it is quite gratuitous and unexpected! There are many "wrong" things to be found inthis film. There is a "cowboy" with a strange accent. They crash into a cake shop and the wiz kid is unhappy with the taste of the pie. The clone wiz kid is able to make the single "I want a new drug" by Heuy Lewis comes out of his mouth, in full loud stereo quality, with heuy lewis' voice, to the delight of the girl and the anger of the villain.I recommend this film. It is bizarre and perplexing.
Blink-8 I first saw this movie when I was 11, in 1993. It was on video in the local grocery store. I had a copy of it for awhile, but lost it somewhere along the way. Then I couldn't find another copy for the longest time. It's a great movie, 10 years almost and I still remembered it. Finally I found another copy on-line. Watch this movie. It's about a boy, Bodo, who's constantly picked on by a group of bullies, and to complicate the fact he has a crush on the lead bullies girlfriend, Nova. Not thinking he could ever get her, he about gives up. He clones himself and the clone is stronger, faster and smarter, and also talks a lot. The clone is able to defend itself and impress Bodo, but does she love Bodo, or Bodo 2? Watch this movie, it rules.
