I gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

There is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.

I adored this movie. Yes, it is fictional. Yes, it is fantasy or adventure as they call it here on IMDb. Yes, this is a family film for families with children who can understand exactly what using an imagination is all about. Disney has imagination! Josh Hutcherson, plays Jess in this film and wow, what a wonderful actor and a praiseworthy performance from him. I loved his character all the way through the film. If we raised children to have his kind of character in this film, we'd be living in heaven on earth. His eye contact was pure and I could see the emotion in him throughout the entire film. Who is this young man? His hair was done so cute in this film. I can't wait to see other films from him. He's a favorite now! I've seen him in a few others films and I remembered him from them. He truly carries this film from beginning to the end though. He establishes a bond with a new girl at school that ironically moves into the home right next to his family's home. They are the main characters and story line. This is a film I've had on my watch list to see and finally I'm glad I did. When you can clap at the end, you know it's worth watching at least once. Don't miss it, if given the chance to see it. You won't be disappointed. The music teacher (Zooey Deschanel) is a cutie too! I think I remember her from 500 Days of Summer. I also believe that Jess has a secret 'teacher' crush on her in this film.

There are lots of books about kids who don't fit in. There are lots of books about bullying. The movie industry has created scripts, utilizing these personalities and showing their struggles. This movie rises above the ordinary. It's a fantasy film that is also a love story. What is real? What is in the mind? It doesn't matter because love and friendship supersede a setting that some would say is impossible. The boy and girl create a world where they can get away from unfulfilled lives and revel in a kind of medieval ethos. They face monsters and trolls and other forces, but that is what gives them life. As they make their respective ways through Terabithia, outside factors begin to resolve themselves and an embracing of the the real world happens. Watch this with your kid.

The movie is as realistic as it can get, and i'm not talking about creatures, places that the main protagonists created out of their pure imagination, i'm talking about plot development. Movies like this one usually make you wonder about the harsh reality that things can be very accidental in life. Meeting a new person (Leslie) that shares with you many traits and becomes your best (maybe only friend) is really a long and hard-to-accept process, especially to young boys (Jess) or girls who have to struggle with life at school, home. Yet when the two becomes really close friends to each other (Jess finally accepts Leslie into his life), reality strikes out of nowhere. That part would make you cry and the part later shows you how he would cope with that lifetime incident and go on. It's beautiful because it displays how much friendship can hold if it's a true one. To people like myself (who enjoy movies for its plot despite anything else), you'll love and learn a lot from this amazing movie.

This is a sweet story, but with a twist of sad, it is very well made, entertaining and pleasant to watch with a bit of lecture or positive messaging about having an open mind, being positive and seeing the troubled person behind the bully. This is a nice children's movie, it is a "small" film with a big hearth, believable and honest dialogue. It has a lot of things you might not see in other movies but also a lot that we are used to from other films in the same genre, it has moving moments, imaginary friends, responsibilities and consequences. All in all a very nice film for children of all ages, I and the kids was entertained, them a little bit more then I, but okay for a nice family afternoon.
