The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The movie really just wants to entertain people.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

If I had to narrow it down to one - and it would take gun-point to get it that far - I would have to choose Broadcast News as my favorite film. It is, in the best way, a perfect storm: writing, acting and directing (&casting, & set design, & music...) First, everything starts with the SCRIPT. Smart, moving, hilarious, and *true*...it all hangs together without forcing moments, without phoniness, and depicts - if it's not what news departments are really like in America? - then it's what SEEMS to be real in news depts across America. It *feels* real for our purposes of drama . Secondly, the ACTING! William Hurt is a genius at being stupid (but looking smart), Albert Brooks is not just perfectly cast, which he is, but gives a 10/10 performance. So many memorable, repeatable lines (the timing!!) Again, the interconnection of the writing, the casting and the acting. You FEEL Jane's dilemma: your heart and head wants to love the Albert Brooks character, your eyes and...body? But something else, an attraction to...sheer talent? That singular talent Tom has? Makes her fall for Tom, the Wm Hurt character. Because then(!), tying it all together, is Holly Hunter. She is a phenomenal actress, but this is, I think, her best part. She does not. Miss. A beat. Not in humor, not in pathos, never. The writing, the acting, and the directing take you from the opening to the closing credits knowing you are safe to experience everything - and you do! For real: you laugh, you cry. But you never worry that they're going to cheat a moment. I don't know that it's the "Best film ever made" (that may require other things that I'm not aware of), but it is definitely my favorite film of all time.

Wow, I thought this movie was great. It was captivating and easy to keep up with. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the whole movie but the story still made sense. The love triangle between Tom, Aaron, and Jane was also quite interesting. Jane was in love with Tom but Aaron was in love with Jane. But the part that stood out most to me was the shoulder kiss. Jane came over to Aaron's home just for moral support and Aaron just had to go and made it awkward. A handshake or simple hug wasn't enough for Aaron, he just had to go and kiss her. But the real question is: Why the shoulder? What is significant about Jane's shoulder. I mean yes, she has nice shoulders but is it worth a kiss. If someone kissed my shoulder, I would be uncomfortable. Boyfriend or not, it is still weird. In addition, she was still in love with Tom. In conclusion, this movie gave the inside scoop on what journalism is really like and the places where you can kiss someone. I gave 7 stars because I think this movie deserves more recognition than it is getting.

Broadcast News was a highly informational movie which introduced me to the stress, worry, and pressure of working at a News Station. No one's spot for anything is ever 100% secure. Jane taught me that through hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. She worked hard her entire life to get to where she ended up at the end of the movie. Aaron taught me that sometimes even the things we want the most don't end up mattering in the end, because everything will turn out alright. And finally, Tom taught me that sometimes we all need a little help from other people. Although I personally wouldn't fake tears to get there, Tom ended up exactly where he wanted. Broadcast News is an 8/10 movie for me.

Broadcast News provides a great view into the world of TV and the life of a journalist. The only thing that I didn't like is that sometimes the love triangle got in the way of that. Jane is this strong, smart woman and she almost gives up everything she believes in for a guy that lies to her. I didn't really like either of her options though. Tom seemed a little sketchy and Aaron was just kind of a jerk. The ending was strange, and I wasn't really expecting it. I think it was a good ending but it was a bit abrupt. Like they laid out this plot and this love triangle, break it to smithereens, then don't follow up? We meet Tom's new girl but we don't end up meeting Jane's new guy or Aaron's wife. There were a lot of little things in the movie that I liked a lot. How Jane always had a way to tell the taxi driver to go, how it had it's funny moments, but also sadder moments. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised.
