The movie starts with an independent woman from Bangalore who wants to live a life on her terms and then life takes her for a ride where she becomes anxious about a never met guy and his life and ultimately falls in love with a vagabond hero. The movie is still clichéd with old chemistry where girl falls in love with jobless, down to the earth, fun loving, jovial protagonist. What makes this movie differ is its making and toppings of new generation characters who are all yo-yo(as they call now). We see woman protagonist whether that maybe Tessa or Kani falling in love. The music and BGM scores well with apt situation. There are many clichés 1.Hero-Heroine meets at the start but never sees, again & again Hero Heroine comes across but they don't meet until the last. 2.The independent woman becomes so much like other woman wanting to fall in love with jobless hero ;) 3.Hero helping everyone without thinking of anything The frames, music and lively attitude of the whole movie makes it so much expressive. Director, cinematographer, music, music director and actors added to the clichéd script making it good.Dulqer and Parvathy along with others did a fantastic acting.

Constructed as something much more promising than what's ultimately delivered, this unconventional look at one character shrouded in mystery, should have, ideally, kept its layers unpeeled, imho. Going in, we are purposefully not told anything about the (titular) lead character, so that we can discover who he really is, with an unconvincing need from the main lady lead to find that out, given that she, unconvincingly (read, too much cinematic license, a la, Bollywood potboiler) makes her way into our lead's abode. (Unconvincing) twist upon (unconvincing) turn takes us all across where Charlie's do-gooder self has been, especially into some dark(er) places than mainstream cinema goes. The change in tone is not seamless, and contrasts with other portions of the movie, but, in the makers' defense, perhaps that was intentional, and overall, is not necessarily a bad thing, provided they have more meat to hang the overall plot on, which, once again, imho, this one does not seem to possess all that much. The only sub-plots I did think were in tune with the rest of the flick were the ones pertaining to Chemban Vinod (minus the unnecessary, definitely 'put on for show' dramatics from all involved), and the one with the lady Doctor, which, in spite of all the dramatics involved, seemed more in turn with the rest of the plot, and I would have loved to see more of it, along with the actress herself, who seemed to have more in terms of relating to her savior, rather than the one we're (mercilessly?) saddled with for the duration of the movie's runtime, even though it is not Parvathy Menon's acting that's at fault. The movie looks great (credit to both the DOP and the location scouts), and sounds mostly good, with great locations, decent costuming and good acting all around, in spite of the directorial heavy-handedness. Plus, there's something unexpected in terms of the final-sequence that seems to have real crowds and real elephants, as part of a traditional ritualistic setting, that might be a first on the big screen, which might be no mean achievement. Pity. Wish it had been in service of a better plot, something more substantial than this ultimately turned out to be.Worth a watch once, on the big screen.

There were a lot of expectations from Charlie the way it was promoted and it has lived very well the expectations.Charlie is short in running time and crisp in terms of editing and it was required as the film has an offbeat essence to it.Stretching could have made the film a bit boring.Well handled by Martin and the editing team.Music by Gopi Sunder is palpable. My pick is Chundari Penne. The highlight of the movie completely lies in the apt cinematography by Jomon T John.Dulquer has given one of the career best performance.Charlie adds another medal to his kitty. Parvathy Menon is awesome as always. Aparna Gopinath, Nedumudi Venu and Soubin Shahir were flawless in their supporting roles.Charlie requires your attention and patience while watching. It has the ability to take you to a different world beyond your imagination.Watch it for the sheer experience of cinematic brilliance.
