wes-connors New kid in the cornfield Adam Wylie (as Ezeekial) receives a blast of fire and becomes "Children of the Corn" leader. One year later, his gang kills an elderly couple, so the new cast can move in and start to struggle with the supernatural force. After some comic killings, the film focuses on four college students. The main star is Stacy Galina (as Allison), who has an actual connection to the "Children of the Corn" series in that her brother left home, saying he was going to join "He who walks behind the rows." Leading man is Alexis Arquette (as Greg). Convincing herein as a male character, Ms. Arquette has since changed her gender to female...The second tier is model perfect looking Greg Vaughan (as Tyrus) and his likewise attractive love interest Eva Mendes (as Kir). The two couples go to scatter the ashes of their dead friend "Kurt" near the cornfield, which first appeared in Stephen King's story. How this relates to anything is a mystery unsolved. The four become stranded in town after an automobile mishap. In small roles, David Carradine and Fred Williamson add more dollars to their acting income. This is the fifth in a series of movies loosely based on his story. Out of ideas, the story simply recycles material from unrelated horror films. The familiar ending suggests more of the same.**** Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror (6/21/98) Ethan Wiley ~ Stacy Galina, Alexis Arquette, Greg Vaughan, Eva Mendes
Michael_Elliott Children of the Corn V (1998) * 1/2 (out of 4) Fifth film in the series is once again a different direction but that doesn't mean it's going to work. Six college friends are going to the cornfields so that they can spread the ashes of their dead friend. When two are slaughtered the other four stay put so that they can find one of the members missing brother. This leads to a strange home ran by a man named Luke (David Carradine) who is using the children to start a new cult. After enjoying the previous entry this one here comes as a letdown for several reasons but the biggest being that this one here offers up a rather interesting cast. A hardly recognizable Eva Mendes plays one of the college students, Kane Hodder of Jason fame plays a bartender and we've got Fred Williamson playing the sheriff. Sadly Williamson and even Carradine are wasted in thankless roles that don't require either actor very much to do. The story here isn't anything too original and writer/director Wiley doesn't try to do much with it. There doesn't seem to have been too much thought going into the screenplay as we get the typical set up and everything that follows pretty much plays by the rules and doesn't offer any surprises or twists. The entire "village" being ran by Carradine is rather bland and, as usual, doesn't make too much sense. The performances are all a mixed bag but it's fun seeing veterans like Carradine and Williamson even if they aren't given much to work with. Ahmet Zappa appears in a role and Mendes, in her film debut, doesn't offer too much either. The film contains your typical murder sequences but none of them really stand out as being any good. In the end, this film offers nothing new or entertaining and its 83-minute running time goes way too slowly.
seveleniumus At this point writers just decided - fu** originality. They just took some generic slasher film plot - bunch of dumb depressed teenagers gets stuck in the middle on nowhere, find some dead bodys, gets scared sh**-less, wants to go home, but some dumb chick wants some score to settle with her long lost brother who happens to live in this lost-in-time town, so they decide to stay because none of them have a life out there and they are depressed because of being worthless, so they get all slaughtered in the process, except the dumb chick, who was responsible for all of them staying in the first place - what a rip-off! Oh, and there are some children, who worship some "that who walks behind the clouds" (hahaha, not funny, I know, that's movies joke, not mine), but that's not important in this movie, seriously you could add any slasher horror flick plot here and it would have made as much sense as this one, I enjoyed every movie in these series up to this point, but not this one, sorry, this one isn't COTC, not by a long-shot.
richard-wheeler This movie had alot more gore than Children of the corn's: 666, and Relavation, and it's alot more entertaining. It is not as scary as the fourth one was. The leader in this film was different and what annoyed the hell out of him was people coming into corn!I like it in the end when the women is holding a baby , and when it opened it's eyes , here we go again, the corn field is calling!7/10.
