Cleveronix A different way of telling a story
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
FrogGlace In other words, this film is a surreal ride.
Leoni Haney Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
user-13794 If you are the sort who loves to criticize a Bollywood movie because it's 'inspired' from a Hollywood original, then this one is not for you! If you don't have access to the Usual Suspects DVD and are a Bollywood buff (both of which apply to me!), then this one is definitely for you! This movie is basically all about the story. It's a great thriller with a heart-stopping ending. Anil Kapoor stars in a different role, but hams in parts. Arshad Warsi is, as usual, a delight. Emraan Hashmi, Irfan Khan, Suniel Shetty, Sushma Reddy (debutante) put in good efforts. The only let-down is Tanushree Dutta who, in the absence of acting skills, allows her cleavage to do all the talking. The songs are hummable. Overall the movie has a smooth look and fast pace. A must for Bollywood thriller buffs -- if there are such!
shomen At the outset, let me make myself very clear on 2 issues. The Usual Suspects is my all time favorite movie and originality is a dying art in Bollywood. Now for the real issue. What was the dimwit director of this dumbass movie thinking of when he thought he had "conceived the idea" to make a movie? Did he think ripping off a Hollywood masterpiece without any admission of guilt would endear himself to the viewing public? Or, even worse, did he have the audacity to think that no one in the viewing public would have the intellect to understand the original masterpiece? Maybe he made it for the "masses" and thought he was attempting something "different". However, the director must have forgotten that despite the waning excitement got out of foreign locales, the "masses" will rarely warm up to a movie shot entirely in the UK. The least he could've done was to have "Indianised" the entire movie in all ways. Then again, an escapist director would always find the easiest way out right?! The only reason I have given this stinker of a movie the 2nd star is because instead of making me boil with anger it made me laugh out loud at the pathetic attempt in futility to create a movie!
salhadid FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS. Can the Bollywood directors please be original? As soon as I saw the boat explode in the first two minutes of the movie, I new it was a direct copy of The Usual Suspects. About an hour into the movie, I fast-forwarded to the end so that I could see if I was right. I stopped when I saw Keyser Soze..., ...I mean Murturza Arzai..., ...I mean Keyser Soze killing his family and then the kidnappers. I don't even think Agnihotri bothered to shoot his own scene there, it looks like he just cut it out of Singer's film and then put in to Chocolate (which would be more aptly named "Steaming, heaping pile of Hindi movie crap that I wouldn't pee on to put out a fire." I wish there were something lower than 1 on this voting jams, because it deserves a -100. I give this movie an F-.
mh_ccl While it's true that this movie is a rip-off of "The Usual Suspects," it is still a highly entertaining Bollywood film. Considering that many Bollywood films don't have plots this intricate, I consider this a good movie. There are some key differences: the suspect is not being interrogated by investigators; a woman is added to the gang (which makes for better wet-dress dance scenes); and while some elements of the ending are the same, it is (to my mind) a different ending.I would recommend this movie to people just starting to appreciate Bollywood films: the familiar plot will make it easy to follow, though it ruins the surprise.
