Reviews

Kailansorac Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
Iseerphia All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
KineticSeoul This would have been a cool k-drama series, for maybe 12 or 16 episodes. I know this is suppose to be a remake of a Chinese movie, but it just seemed a bit undeveloped. It's about a surveillance team, that tracks down bad guys using the camera around the city. But they meet their biggest match when they encounter a leader that runs a crew of robbers. This flick has few quick cool moments in between, but nothing all that memorable. This is Jung Woo-sung's first role as the bad guy, and he basically plays the typical charismatic cool bad guy that is way too underdeveloped. As a matter of fact, you know almost nothing about any of the characters in this movie to even care what happens. Which is unfortunate since their seems to be some interesting character. A bit more information on their personality, background and motives would have made this movie better. It's worth a watch, but you won't be missing out on much if you miss out on this one.6.5/10
dumsumdumfai You don't have to watch the original, 2007, Eye in the Sky HK movie. But then you won't get the ending cameo.Personally I don't think there will be an sequel. Korean movies are not known for that. Casue the find new materials every time.Sometime they make good remakes, (like this or remake of Japanese "Trains"), sometimes not as so (I heard "A Better Tomorrow" or "White Nights" are not as appealing) Story is about a team of surveillance cops vs. a cold calculated criminal, who can plan, execute and getaway a crime with precision and detail to account for almost everything. On the other side is a rookie with pinpoint memory who is recruited by a weary veteran.Usually I won't waste time trashing a movie if I don't have a long line of reasons to (like the missing science in the Star Trek reboot - but it so bad that is was funny instead). And why waste time/words, effort on a review to trash or to vent if you could have walked out in the first place.Howerver, there is no "real" central focusing character in this setup. I think they didn't want to be completely on the 'rookie' female cop. But added more back story to the villain to carry the load instead. This maybe the weak point for me. It's all very very well-done but lacking some kind of soul. For example, compare to the Howling, The man from Nowhere. But as entertainment, yes. No complaints.
alshwenbear1 I came to this without real expectations… first five minutes I was lost and uninterested, ten minutes warming up. Suddenly, I felt like being part of the film, of the team, (the good guys), following the robbers and "Shadow" from the edge of my seat, and all this without CGI involved! Catching the bad guys hasn't been so much entertainment for me in a little while… and the characters do not scream their lungs out, or run through the streets knocking everyone else down, on the contrary they act as discreet as a surveillance team should in real life."Cold Eyes" is a movie that delivers, and the action is not over the top, so it may be unsatisfying for Hollywood standards, but what it lacks in explosions and heart pounding chases, fulfill with characters and situations that we care,so, if you like good thriller with some action just sit and enjoy this Korean Movie!
rohmer-5 I am lucky enough to attend a premiere of Cold Eyes. Without any expectation or prior knowledge of the movie ,I was drawn into the movie within 10 minutes. I do not want to spoil the movie for anyone but if you are into terrific Korean thrillers like Man from nowhere, The Chaser etc., Cold eyes is definitely for you. The characters are vivid, the action is exciting and heart pounding, the fight scenes are well choreographed and believable, the cat and mouse tracking between the detectives and the villains will keep you on the edge of your seat. The jokes are natural and laughable too, which are inserted at the correct points of the movie to create a tense and loosen effect, catching hold of the audience and letting go a while when necessary. Go and watch it, it is well worth your time. Hollywood productions, better buck up as Korea movies are coming strong.
