An action-packed slog

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

This is not a pure 8 out 8 stars for Consignment. The old school bell curve is in full effect. Hands down consignment has a banging soundtrack for a low budget urban piece. Its hot. Custom Made Recordings & Babygrande Records consignment track crushes. I've been a big fan of jackin4beats.com since it started. Music makes a movie. This movie had real street music. The story is old hash. A drug dealer wants to get out of the business. Nothing new. What was new was having a black east coast drug dealer, played by jackin4beats founder by Tim Beachum, having crazy panic attacks after moving to LA to deal with latino gangsters. What was banging was action, nudity, and real looking cast. Straight up a few people were clearly cast from the streets.

For a urban B movie this DVD took off. The story is nothing new about a drug dealer wanting to get out of the business after some hardcore stuff happens to them or a loved one. What made Consignment jump was the truths laced in the story if you know what's up or been there. Didn't have the smell of the fake wannabe gangster crap shown I seen in a car load of urban movies. This one showed what's really moving with drug murders and sex. It goes down for sure. Plenty of action. I gotta give it up on the nudity. What's a gangster movie with out T & A???? They got a Mexcian dame with a banging body working a striptease for some hustlers. It's off the chain!! I have to throw in with the other reviewer Coco about the soundtrack. It's tight. Underground hip hop tracks from Custom Made Recordings and Ayreon The Don pumped the vibe. If you want street action check this one out. Ain't on the level with Menace II Society or Paid In Full. You do get a slick B movie that brings it. I bought this mother for the strip show alone.

Consignment was what I would consider one of the better independent films. It is defiantly an independent film that I am proud to have as part of my collection. Here is my break down of the movie for those of you that even want to hear my two cents :-)Broken down on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the highest duh!)Visually - 10 Audio - 8 Acting - 6 (I would have given it an 8 but I couldn't stomach the wife Yolanda. How she got cast I'll never know!) Soundtrack - 10 Movie Trailer - 8... and that's my two cents... Take it or leave it!

Consignment directed by Sid Kali reminded me of an updated twist on the classic old school gangster movies. The action was hot. The characters powerful. The story well told. The rhythm of the dialog captured the true flavor of the street. The picture was beautiful. All around solid independent movie.A few scenes that stood out were seeing a member of a biker gang get killed execution style in a dirt field. Looked crazy. In another part of the movie there is a full blown shoot out at some industrial yard between drug dealers. Great gun play. I flipped over one scene where this drug dealer trips out on drugs and alcohol going on a mind trip. You feel like you're in it when you watch. The way it was shown reminded of the scene in Goodfellas where Henry Hill is tripping on coke being chased by a helicopter. The sexiest part was a strip show by this smoking hot Latina. A chapter from Showgirls folded in to a gangster movie. The cast is rising young actors that shined. I was impressed with the realism and raw intensity of their performances. A few characters that stood out were trigger happy drug dealer Carmelo played by Jerome Anthony Hawkins, every man Tommy Jones played by Tim Beachum, Latino drug dealer Smiles played by Ruben Navarro, his ultra sexy wife Irene played by Andrea Jimenez.Based on true events, Consignment is about Tommy Jones, a reluctant East Coast drug dealer on the run with his wife, Yolanda, after a rival kingpin's plan to have him ripped-off and murdered goes wrong. In need of fast cash to go straight, the pair head to Southern California, where Tommy hooks up with his cousin, a reckless, hot-tempered drug dealer. Tommy quickly gets in over his head, and is forced to take a large shipment of crystal meth on consignment from a ruthless Latino gangster. Double-crosses, a series of brutal murders, and an old secret from his wife's past foils Tommy's plans for a new start at life.I highly recommend Consignment to people that love crime movies. This one hits on all cylinders. A heavy dose of action that entertains from start to end. Nice to a quality gangster movie done by an independent studio. Consignment has heart and soul.
