Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
LeonLouisRicci If You are Experiencing a Severe Coen Brothers Jones or Can't Wait for the New Season of Fargo on TV, it is Possible that this may be an Enjoyable Light Snack. Hardly Fulfilling but something to Munch On.The Slight of Hand Casting of Billy Bob Thornton, John Malkovich, Oliver Platt, and Bruce Dern is a Come On that is none too sincere. Sure, all are here to Quirk Things up and They Do but Not Enough to make this Nothing more than a Recycled, Dark Humored Been There Done That. The Thing is Without Style or much Substance and it Moves from one Intentionally Offbeat Reveal to Another and it Plods Along its Unconventionality with as much Flare as a Fireman's Parade on a Summer Afternoon.Stone Face and Emotionless Liam Hemsworth is the Focal Point and He seems to Barely have a Heartbeat Relying on the Gravitas of the Stellar Character Actors Orbiting this Off Center World. Michael Stuhlbarg Stands Out as the Quirkiest of the Quirks, a Mentally Challenged Townie that Everyone Knows and Avoids at all cost for Good Reason. Now, They really Do Have a Good Reason to Stay Out of the Man's Way because He won't be Denied His Priority Mail.
Gino Cox "Cut Bank" is a moody noir mystery/thriller that deserves much better reviews than the middling critiques it has received. It is evocative of Coen brothers films like "Fargo," "Blood Simple" and "The Ladykillers," but manages to be original and unpredictable. Performances by the top-notch cast are low-key, but credible. The atmosphere is suitably dreary, desolate and depressing. Technical aspects are adequate, if not inspired. The denouement is emotionally satisfying if one puts ones brain on hold and ignores everything one knows about forensic science. The film offers a flimsy rationale based on the small town setting, but it still tests the limits of the audience's willful suspension of disbelief. However, other events are well-grounded. The motives and capabilities of the villain are a bit over the top, but not so much as to distract. Overall it is an engaging and original noir film with excellent performances by a talented cast.
thepuzzlingcentaur So, the short story is that I was traveling across Germany with my friend for the whole week (we were on a business trip) We had to wait a lot and we were very bored. That friend of mine brought a laptop with us with lots of movies stored on it, because we needed something to pass our time. This information is necessary for anyone to picture how bored we were during the long waiting hours. During that week we watched mediocre, good and bad movies. When you are bored, you will find enjoyment in bad movies, especially if those movies fall into "so bad it's good" category. When you are really bored, an average adult (non-critic) viewer will find qualities in newest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. But there are those movies that are so boring it will force you to do daily chores like washing your dishes, iron your clothes or clean the room you are in.And this is one of those movie. This movie was so TERRIBLE that it made me uncomfortable. I kept looking at my watch and around me half the time. My friend fell asleep. I was thinking about closing the laptop and going to sleep myself, but I somehow forced myself to watch the whole thing because I didn't feel tired and I had nothing to do (no chores to pass the time). I assume it tried to be funny, but it failed to be funny and I love all kinds of comedies, and that includes black comedies, movies with random, weird, bizarre or childish humour. It obviously tried to be some kind of thriller, but when nothing makes any sense, then we are talking about a bad thriller. Acting ranged from absolutely terrible to mediocre. Writing and dialogues were disturbingly bad. It seemed like half of the dialogue was copied over from old movies (cliches, of course). Pretty much everything about this movie failed to impress me. The only thing interesting about this movie is that asocial guy in the glasses but even he wasn't interesting enough to me....now I can't even remember his name and it's been barely a week. I will mention the most important facts again: I was bored, I had no expectations for this movie and I had no idea what I will watch. But even then, even under these circumstances....this movie was painful to watch, completely unbearable. It made me physically uncomfortable. While this is not -the- worst movie I've watched, it is definitively on the list of worst movies I have ever seen. And I have watched a lot of bad movies that do not belong on that list.2016 EDIT: I had to fix my poor engRish grammar a bit.
pkpera I was attracted to this by cast. And what ? - Teresa Palmer looked gorgeous as usual, while Bruce Dern, John Malkovich and Billy Bob Thornton looked somehow older than they should. Was it intention of director, or they are really so old and slow now (maybe Bruce Dern is who is really old) ? I tend to blame director, who likely wanted them look exactly like that - old, slow, peripheral people. Then flow of highly improbable events started (spoilers on from now): Accidental shooting of shooting a man in field, then probably the stupidest part - showing that reward in post office - stupid because reward self, as is, and because it gave clue too early. After that, lame and unlikely events went throughout the end. I really don't want to go in every stupid detail, will just point on Derby Milton: how could that old, stupid and especially very slow retard overcome easily much younger people ? This is another big direction flaw in my opinion. And direction was overall just mediocre in best case. The story ? As said, highly unlikely, and far from anything original. We seen all it done much better. Finally, the message and final scene: really stupid message - leaving small provincial town is best what young people can do in their life ? Because such town is some kind of prison. Prison in heads, as was with kids on bicycles at final scene. People leaving big towns could say some words about .. Or I'm just too stupid to understand American Dream :-)
