MisterWhiplash As a fan, I can recommend the Dave Matthews Band's first live concert video (at least legitimate that I know of) if only to see them perform some of their finest hits and more well-known stuff, and for the fantastic rarities and little unexpected delights that come up. But there may be some who might want to check out the video, or one of their videos, that aren't very big fans, who may only be familiar with one or two songs off the radio. From there one might want to check it out just to see how the songs are performed live. But on this side there's stuff to recommend too. So really, Listener Supported is a video for both sides, the hardcore fan and the casual fan of music, chiefly rock. But one of the wonderful things about the Dave Matthews Band is how it isn't easily classifiable as just 'rock'- two out of five of the members of the band play instruments that one rarely finds in rock groups (a horn section is slightly more common, but a string section definitely isn't). The mix of variety then comes to play with many of the songs that are lesser known, and with the better known, and it turns out to be in general a great concert. Some of my favorites from the show were 'Too Much', 'Two Step', 'Stay (Wasting Time)', the opening number 'Pantala Naga Pampa', and the encore of a song that's been covered by many bands over time- All Along the Watchtower- but not usually with this much energy and with equal excitement from the audience. Other little bits like 'Jimi Thing' and '#40' might strike some viewers and listeners as well. With a very professional shooting of the concert, and seeing a band right after releasing their third album (after Before These Crowded Streets I think) totally in tune with what they have to do for the whole audience is exhilarating.
jdgarciaparra5 This concert absolutely amazes me every time I see it. Not only is the music wonderful, but everything down to the camera angles and lighting are amazing. If you are into the Dave Matthews Band, or just want to see footage from a great concert from a great band, check out Listener Supported.
