Wonderful character development!

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

The movie is surprisingly subdued in its pacing, its characterizations, and its go-for-broke sensibilities.

From that line of the movie, you're probably guessing that there's plenty of humor in this movie.Well, you're right. But there's more comedy and action than horror in 'Dead & Deader'. In fact,it isn't scary or suspenseful. But that doesn't mean that this movie doesn't deliver. This movie movie definitely delivers, and in this case,it delivers buckets of gore and entertainment that almost reaches 'Dawn of the Dead'.We should all give Dean Cain a big round of applause, because if he wasn't in this movie, then it wouldn't be as good as I'm describing it right now.So there's good news for all of you people who enjoy extremely gory and funny mayhem that make a movie as good as 'Dead & Deader'.

For a B grade scifi movie, this one is really great! Wish there were more like it. Lots of hidden stuff to find. I especially liked it in the funeral home where they were questioning the mortician, and there was a silver sphere ala Phantasm-style on the table! And the actors were great too! No corny lines, all delivered well. I wonder why they do not make more movies like this? Well acted, a believable story line, paying homage to the scifi art, lots of funny stuff, plenty of weird scifi stuff going on. We want more! This one I am currently watching on the scifi channel. They will probably show it again if you watch for it.

This is the kind of stupid horror film I miss from the '80s and '90s. It's not focused on being shocking, but on being entertaining, funny, and only mildly disturbing. A zombie movie should be funny (Romero can pull off a semi-serious zombie... but we've seen the failure that was the 28 Days movies)and that's what you get with this movie. It's a ridiculous premise, and that's fine given the nature of the movie. It's filled with dumb clichés and that works for this kind of movie. It's a good laugh movie for people who like dumb zombie flicks. Nothing more. Nothing less. It has the silly horror humor of classics like The Stuff. There is not a serious thing in this movie.

I'm new to this genre, and "Dead and Deader" was a nice intro to it. There's a lot of instant gratification in this movie. The movie is well paced; so I was constantly entertained. The "good guys" zoom from unexpected place to place, which I enjoyed an army kitchen, a morgue, a funeral parlor, a creepy bar with girl dancing in a bikini top, inside a huge freezer, a boutique with cool costumes, etc. etc. The "bad guys" get massacred in creative ways you haven't seen before (antlers and meat grinders come into play). I thought the writing was creative. I liked that the zombie infection was mixed up with Cambodian scorpions called "Jindoo" (great name). No matter how disgusting and threatening the surroundings, that fine triumvirate of Bobby, Judson, and Holly actually seem to be enjoying themselves more than they are terrified of the experience. They have great chemistry and make the audience enjoy the ride too. That's the real charm of this movie. Despite life and death being at stake, there is zero forced drama. The conversations are funny. There's some sexual tension, which is nice. Holly moves her face and body in alluring ways. Dean Cain is perfectly heroic. I couldn't help smiling at Judson's comedic delivery. Terrifically, Colleen Camp even shows up. She's like "You're off to find a dead body? Count me in!" I'm paraphrasing. But you get the idea -- even the serious moments are fun. I watched the DVD special features, which tell you about inside references that hard core fans of the genre will appreciate. I think it's the type of flick you can watch over and over; enjoying it more each time as you catch subtle details.
