Excellent, a Must See

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

If you have played dead rising then you would rate this movie. Because yea some parts don't make sense but you kinda have to think about how the game is so then those things would make sense.
No spoilers but I just think that the rating of this movie is way too low, I think it's because those people haven't played the game

...and luckily I also quite like a bad one, too. Which is just as well, because 'Dead Rising' isn't that good (but then it's not that bad, either). In case you didn't know, it's based on a computer game. And, if you didn't know that, you probably did know that movies that are based on computer games never really fair that well. You have a city. You have zombies. You have survivors trying to get out. If you're expecting something with tension, heart and character development (and zombies, of course) then stick to the Walking Dead. However, if you just want to see zombies sliced up by weird and wonderful (and very sharp) home-made weapons, then watch this. Part of the enjoyment of the computer game was that you could 'craft' weapons by sticking a lawnmower on the end of a toaster (or something like that) and then mowing your way through the undead hordes. Well, that's basically what the film does, too.The characters are a clichéd and the story uninspired, yet I can't quite bring myself to dislike it. It's the sort of film that I'm pretty sure I'll forget shortly and then remember in a few years time and watch again. No, I won't buy it, but I reckon that if I can find it for free on Netflix or whatever then I'll happily sit through it again and chuckle here and there. If I had to say one majorly negative thing about it, it would be that it never really seemed to know what it wanted to be. One minute it's quite 'knowingly cheesy' with its silly antics – the next it's trying to be all dark and conspiracy orientated. If you can stomach – yet another – zombie film that's simple 'popcorn fun' then you could give this one a go (especially if you don't have to pay for it!).

The opening scene gave the impression that this was going to be a satire like 'Shaun of the Dead' or an outright comedy like 'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.' The 2/10 I rate the movie is for this opening scene. After that, it's downhill all the way.Zombie comedies work because the idea of a zombie apocalypse is so utterly absurd. Non-comedy zombie offerings like 'The Walking Dead' work because the drama and human tragedy is sufficient for us to suspend disbelief in the outrageous premise. To make a zombie movie, or book, or TV show work, film-makers have to slap us in the face with comedy, or punch us in the kidneys with drama; there can be no half-measures.Unfortunately, Watchtower is a half-measure and, beyond that first scene, has nothing to recommend it, unless you're a serious glutton for zombie schlock.

It's a zombie movie. That sums things up entirely.Dead Rising: Watchtower (2015) doesn't add up to the genre. It's, yet, another zombie flick. Nope, it isn't bad. It's just another one.I don't have much to say about it. People who likes zombie movies will get entertained. Also, I have to mention that this is a movie based on a game and, surprisingly, it's a fine movie! You'll get Dead Rising (talking about the game now) references everywhere. Sometimes, it's even kinda annoying. Not sure about Frank West's character in the movie, though. He let me down a bit.Graphical effects were fine, but, sometimes, blood spatter can look unrealistic, because it's rendered as cheap effects.Overall, Dead Rising: Watchtower is fine. Oh, yeah... it's a zombie movie!
