Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
wwishes You know.. some people like movies for their plot, others for whatever similarities they find in them. But this one is great for it's last scene alone. The movie minus the last scene is alright, but it's the ending that paints a never-seen-before emotional picture that not many movies can show. That way I'd even compare it to a peace of art. Can't really describe it, but by watching it I feel more human. Not many movies can do that, not many. This movie is a slow trip, but in the end it might make you experience something, something indescribable, yet very human. If you want to be taught by this movie, and feel the experience, then you will - in a way that is completely new and..beautiful.
whpratt1 Richard Crenna, "Body Heat" and Angie Dickinson "Dressed to Kill", gave a fantastic performance together as husband and wife. Whenever Angie appears in a film, you can count on a good performance and lots of action and drama. If it was not for these two actors appearing in this TV drama, the entire plot would fall on its face. The great sadness Richard Crenna was able to show the audience with his daughter and the great repect and love he had for her was great acting by a veteran actor who passed on to the higher stage in his life. Angie and Richard were a great fighting team as husband and wife. If you love these two actors, this is a classic TV show!
hershiser2 I know this is a made for TV movie, and the acting in made for TV movies is usually sub-par, but it's absolutely horrendous in this film. Sometimes acting gets so bad it's laughable, but in this case, it's so bad it's sickening.
vlyson I had not heard of this film before I saw it listed in TV Guide for tonight (8/5/02) on the Lifetime channel. Any film with Richard Crenna draws my immediate attention. I was not disappointed; he gave his usual flawless performance. The actress who played his middle daughter gave a rather overwrought performance at times; however, if she actually did her own singing, she has a great voice.Angie Dickenson portrays a character one feels little sympathy for; therefore, when she turns up missing again, one does not really feel the loss--but can certainly sympathize with her distraught daughter. The rest of the film does indeed reveal deep family secrets. This film will keep you guessing.
