Excellent, a Must See
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

The movie really just wants to entertain people.

The promos of Desiboyz(esp the talkie ones) depicted that it's about racism something very different, and having a plot in an Akki film nowdays is a blessing and too a relevant one. Sadly that is the only thing good about the film. The concept is good and does make sense but the way the film goes about it doesn't work. First of all they are hired Male Escorts(in the lines of DOSTANA) but they don't really work as Male Escorts I understand it's Hindi cinema but at least could be more realistic. Even the initial comedy scenes and several other parts appear juvenile The worst aspect is Akshay becoming a student again and his scenes with Chitraganda especially the striptease is stupidity The climax will go down as the worst ever.... All of a sudden Sanju Baba makes an entry in the court and what follows is completely senseless.Direction by Rohit Dhawan is okay in parts but overall he has a long way to go Music is superb, Subah Hone Na De, the title song, Jhak maar Ke are fabAkshay Kumar does his role well though nothing out of the world John Abraham tries a bit too hard in some portions but does well in most of the film Deepika Padukone is good while Chitraganda Singh does well in a stupid role Omi Vaidhya repeats his buffoonery of 3 Idiots but sans the magic Sanju Baba in a cameo just has fun playing himself He gets the best lines too Anupam Kher is typecast Satish Kaushik is okay

Desi Boyz is set in the time when the world had gone into recession (2007-8). It was a well chosen setting seeing as it sets the tone for the whole movie. Most of it is revolved around the two main characters struggling financially and having to resort to being male escorts. The storyline is pretty clear and simple, and the music is very, very good. It appeals to all audiences due to the fact that the film is set in England, and shows some of the English landmarks. All in all, the movie is well structured, however there are a few niggles that I have, such as the problem that many of the English people have voice overs which make them sound American. For me, the voice overs do spoil the movie somewhat, as they're either too stereotypically British or they make British people sound American.

Rohit Dhawan's 'Desi Boyz' is pretty much another typical retarded Akshay Kumar comedy that is set in London. Obviously Dhawan and his producers are ashamed of India that they had to film in rich Europe. Anyway, here's how the 'story' goes. Jerry (Akshay Kumar), whose original name is Jignesh but he's so ashamed of his Indian background that he replaces it with the name of one of the most famous mice is a dropout who gets fired from every job that he lands. Money is scarce and he has to face a social worker who threatens to dump his annoying oh-look-how-cute-I-am orphan nephew at some foster parents's dwelling. Then there's Nick who recently gets let go of work. He's too proud to do any job that's below his qualification and would rather work as a stripper (but that's for later). His rich spoilt brat girlfriend (Deepika Padukone) thinks that people can't live on chicken role. Anyway, since Nick's too proud to accept a typist's job and desperately wants to shower his irritating girlfriend with lavish wedding, honeymoon and whatever nonsense, Dhawan portrays how desperate he is. So sad! (puke) Anyway, fastforward...a closeted pimp (Sanjay Dutt) invites them to his den. One thing leads to another and Nick becomes a stripper while Rocco, I mean, Jerry, becomes a harlot. They continue to screw around and eventually Nick's bimbo (Padukone) finds out and breaks off the engagement. Nick cries like an idiot and tries to justify his striptease to his fiancée. He also breaks up with Jerry.Rocco, I mean, Jerry, loses his annoying nephew to some foster parents and apparently he's earned enough money from prostitution to pay tuition and room and bored for Trinity College. It's amazing how a dropout can get accepted to an established college so easily. In Trinity College there also happens to be an openly racist professor whom no one seems to complain about. There he meets a hot professor (A sensational Chitrangda Singh) who helps him pass his exam and graduate. She really is hot.Fastforward...Nick and Jerry become friends again...fast forward...there's a trial in the end to discuss whether the kid should stay with foster parents or with Rocco, I mean Jerry. The trial also proves that all men in the movie, except for the two ex-strippers, are homosexuals. Jerry attempts to explain his prostitution. Now will he get the kid? (Dramatic music).Oh, and amidst all this nonsense, there are some atrociously bad songs that are visualized like amateur wannabe MTV videos. The non-Indian cast is dreadful as is John Abraham. Akshay Kumar plays the usual comedic role he's played in almost every movie of the last 10 years. Deepika Padukone is okay at best. Chitrangda Singh oozes hotness. Too bad her role is so cut short. Writing, direction, sound effects, editing etc are terrible.

Don't bother to go to theaters to see this nor even rent a DVD. It is pretty awful to sit thru 2 hours and definitely would not recommend it. What a waste of acting talent on this movie. I expected more from this movie since it is packed with talent but the whole storyline, editing, is awful; actually the movie does not flow smoothly at all .I did not expect any storyline as figured this would be a slapstick comedy. Unfortunately I could count on my hand how many times I laughed. Also about time Indian movies start rating the movies because this is definitely not a family movie! More like a "girls night out type movie". Definitely not a guy type movie Please do not take kids to watch this "farce"
