Desperate to put the traumatic loss of their infant child behind them, newlywed couple Khalid and Salama return to their home in the United Arab Emirates. Unknown to the couple, their new luxury apartment block, Al Hamra, was built on the site of an old abandoned fishing village of the same name. Legend has it the village was abandoned after malevolent beings haunted its inhabitants. Unsettled by her new surroundings and the eerie hallways of Al Hamra, Khalid worries his wife is failing to battle her personal demons – but could it be something far more sinister?

ScoobyWell Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
Console best movie i've ever seen.
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
dantonstl So I've been wanting to see this for awhile. Posters came out In Reno, NV the only thing is: there's a poster with a creature! So the other one I watched, and it ineffectively caught my attention was probably the one that was to be seen, I say that because in the beginning, there's a tale and an opening scene with a broken sword that grabbed my attention which was in that version, BUT In this one I totally see whats going on. A dead baby, a family visibly similar to Will Smiths' in Prince of Bel Air.....two women....tall brunettes. And complaints. So our star...he acts like a doctor on many occasions, even gets on some psychedelics....the apartment is actually like a huge hotel....and the beginning of the movie has Hindus and an American chillin out telling tales about this SOUL from the Quoran....I would question a few things...like the disappearance of the WILL SMITH like family.... I'de question the consequences of the ending.... did those guys from the fireside kill the American? Is the Husband gonna come back and celebrate with the Hindus from the fireside that lived?
cindi-66289 This was a nice change and I loved the movie. Definitely worth watching. If you are a cookie-cutter type of person, this is not the typical American Horror or gore movie. It does have a story line and the actors are good. They are believable. It is refreshing to watch a movie that is not the same thing over and over. This isn't and it is rooted in legend which is awesome because it is not simply American legend. It is more about the story than simply the scare. Don't believe what others have written about it being bad. I think it depends on what people like. It is a good movie. Watch and see!
airsnob This is NOT a bad movie. I enjoyed it. It's not a B movie. The acting is decent. The story is awesome. I love those folk stories, the stories that are legends, myths, that have been around so long you wonder if they are true. The production is really good. The direction I esp liked. The ending was great, too. It surprised me, I was expecting the usual Hollywood ending , didn't happen. It kinda freaked me out too. But for hard core horror fans , I don't think you will enjoy this. If you liked Mama, or Sinister, this movie is your type. It isn't gory, no bad cheap sex scenes, or jump scares. This is an old fashioned ghost story. But really cool, because it's an Arab ghost story. I'm part Arab, I am not a Muslim though, but I have wanted to go and see this part of the world for a long time. Obviously, it's too dangerous to visit , and I actually am afraid to go there , just because I'm considered American , and the customs and so on. Islam scares me. But I think it's something in the blood. I also am familiar with many aspects of the culture and it's nice to see something I can relate with, in a way. Something different and mysterious. I didn't like this movie because I'm biased. I liked this movie because it's good and anyone can enjoy it. It is a great and scary legend to make a film about. Very good!
aldebaran68 The only reason I give it 4 is because I like both Aiysha Hart and Razane Jammal. Both did the best they could with a poor script and shoddy directing. As for 'horror'?, I didn't see any. Not even remotely. Just a lot of disjointed scenes, no atmosphere, no chemistry, nothing to talk about. I enjoyed Aiysha Hart in her scenes, speaking Arabic; those were high points of the film for me. poor Razane looked at sea most of the time. Shame. Could have been a much better film with more effort from the director, imagination and maybe even a bigger budget...? Most of the story was predictable. There was little emotional content even around the theme of the dead baby. There was no atmosphere to connect the so called 'horror' to any emotional response by the actors. All very disconnected.Worth watching for the Arabic language scenes.
