I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

I expected mediocre effects for this low budget film, but it turned out to be quite amazing. This was a thoroughly enjoyable fantasy action with some incredible action sequences. Plot flaw: in the beginning of the film the evil Buraki attacks a village in search of the girl born with a dragon-shaped tattoo. If they were hoping to find the girl alive, why did they first bomb the village and then searched for her? The chances were very good they could have killed her during the attack.Nevertheless, the film is a fast-paced joyride of thrilling action and incredible effects. The Atrox Army battle in Los Angeles towards the end is insanely entertaining and well on par with the Hollywood blockbusters.

Did I see this? Sure, about eight years ago when it came out on DVD of course! Do I remember much from it? Absolutelyf**king not! No, wait, Robert Forster IS in this, and he acted and did things! And the CGI is so absolutely insane and all of a piece. Dragon Wars... is what it is, and it's great for a night with friends who know how to take it the opposite of seriously. I'd think if you watch this alone it won't be as much fun though. You really need the communal experience of sitting with a bunch of people who want to watch dragons of different shapes and varieties (though mostly of the gigantic kind) destroying buildings and fighting with giant helicopters as cardboard character cut-outs stand around yelling orders and saying things that are meant to pass as English words. It's a movie that's so poor that had it been made 20 years earlier or 40 years earlier or so on, it would be one of the timeless classics for fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - but this goes without saying it's completely understandable why it has its cult following (if it does, I haven't check the internet lately...)

Dragon wars told us a Korean legend about the dragons.I read the comments here and found the rate is so low. Maybe the plot is too weak and some scene is ridiculously naive. Maybe it's the director's fault, he just wanted to make a film combined with eastern and western culture, but he made a mess. The special effects is really good and the real dragon in the last scene is really wonderful. The East Asia dragon is different from the evil western dragon. It's a mythical creature with a huge snake-like body covered in fish scales, and adorned with horns, a beard, claws and feet. This dragon can bring the rain to the earth and the people are grateful to that. This legend is originated from China and spread to Korean peninsula and other parts of East Asia. At the end of the movie we hear the traditional Korean folk song and it's really beautiful. Maybe this movie is too short and crudely made, but i have to admit that this movie is a great surprise.

Dragon Wars earned its 5-star rating for seeing to it that - (1) The pretty-haired pretty-boy, actor Jason Behr, as ass-wipe news-reporter, Ethan Kendrik, got (somewhat satisfactorily) roughed up and knocked around and, yes, even got his pretty-hair sufficiently mussed up, too (but not nearly enough for my liking).(2) Los Angeles got royally trashed by both the attacking monster-lizards, along with their allied reptilian friends, as well as by the blundering boys of the U.S. military in their seriously botched attempt at a near-hopeless counter-attack.(3) The final, completely over-the-top showdown that took place between the "good" Imoogi and, yes, the "bad" Imoogi was a real winner. And even though I've grown mighty jaded and blasé about C.G.I. effects, this particular battle-scene between good & bad was exceptionally impressive stuff, if you ask me.Putting all of Dragon Wars' crap aside (and, yes, there was plenty of that), this film actually did more than fulfill its promise when it came to delivering the goods on death and destruction done on a massive scale. And, like, isn't that why people watched this haywire movie? I mean, were viewers really expecting to be entertained by brilliant dialog, and a coherent story, and Oscar-worthy performances? 'Cause I think that only a ding-dong dimwit would've realistically expected that sort of thing from the likes of Dragon Wars.Another one of Dragon Wars' pluses was that, often enough, it was so pathetically stupid that it was actually quite funny. It even got so ludicrous at times that I literally burst out into almost uncontrollable laughter. In some ways I'd actually go so far as to say that Dragon Wars surpassed the likes of Transformers by a Korean, country mile. And, I'd certainly bet you that if this monster-of-a-monster-movie had been directed by, say, Michael Bay, rather than Hyung Rae Shim, then reviewers here on IMDb wouldn't have been so savagely anxious to trash it as they so mercilessly did.Anyways - When it comes to Korean legend, I really can't believe that upon this film's release the people of Korea didn't come forward and publicly protest about how utterly stupid this movie made their beliefs appear to the rest of the world
