In other words, this film is a surreal ride.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

When I was a kid this was one of my favorite comic-books. I think I still have it somewhere. Story is variation of Aladdin, objectively, far below Disney classics, but it doesn't make this movie any less fun. Just relax and enjoy the ride with Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby. <37/10

Animation is OK, but the problem is the script. It starts rushed up and ends with fairy-tale Disney ending that has always been annoying.I saw this movie right after watching third season of the show (I grew up watching DuckTales but recently decided to re-watch just to watch the movie itself) and the drop in quality is very noticeable. The animation done by a new studio feels rough, especially when they show whole Duck Berg or the first opening scene itself. Some characters like Launchpad do pretty much nothing while others like Gyro and Gizmoduck are completely absent like they never existed (not even a small cameo). Worst part is, this movie's failure meant Disney never bothered with another movie unlike Aladdin which has like 4 movies. That said, is it a "bad" movie? No. Kids will enjoy it, even grown ups.. probably will. Just not enjoy it as much as the TV series itself.

This is a wonderful little movie for children. Adults will be amused enough to watch it with their kids and I can't think of many things in the film that would offend the sensibilities of any except the most sheltering of parents. Racism against Arabs have been leveled against certain sections of the movie but they do not hold any water. Stereotypical portrayal perhaps but racism in a negative sense, no. One must keep in mind that this movie was created in 1990 and Middle Eastern culture has long been considered exotic, interesting, and mysterious. That is what this movie tries to tap into, not into racism.Scrooge McDuck and the gang go on a short but enjoyable adventure and the voice acting of Christopher Lloyd really earn this movie the seven stars. Your kids will love it.

After the series has come to an end, Disney found it so successful that they have made a movie version of it; it is called "DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp," and it was an animated film made in 1990 from Disney MovieToons, a very short lived division of the Disney company (at least for its time; there, of course, was "Teacher's Pet: The Movie," but it is nothing as good as this!!!!!)Here, our adventurous gang of Scrooge, Launchpad, Huey, Dewey, and Louie fly out to the desert to find a pyramid, filled with traps and treasure; one of which holds the lamp of the genie!!!!! After they reach home, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are friends with the genie and the fun begins!!!!!I've rented this and seen this on the Old Disney Channel as a kid. Then this was released on DVD in Europe, Australia, and Latin America, and finally, in March or April of 2005, the BAD Disney Channel, for some reason, decided to show this movie. What a treat!!!!! Oh sure, it's on DVD in America now, but only if you're a member of the Disney Movie Club!!!!! Hey, at least it's in 16x9 widescreen!!!!!"DuckTales: The Movie" is a great way to wrap up the series; much better than that "Lizzie McGuire Movie," in my opinion!!!!!10 stars!!!!!
