It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Well before I start, I must say this movie is about 90% drama (in regards to the genre)... if you're looking to watch a comedy, this isn't the movie for you too watch - it's a relationship-drama, which is exactly what I expected going into the movie (reading the message boards, seems like a lot of people were thinking "comedy movie", although one guy cracked me up a few times). So basically you have a group of friends from college who all kinda drifted apart throughout the years... you know, they ain't talk much to each other, hang out, etc. One of there friends ends up dying in some freak accident, so everyone in the circle is called up for the funeral service (and everyone goes). At the funeral service, to be honest I dunno what this occupation is called but... the girl who handles the persons wills... she has a voice recording of the victim, and on the recording he explains how he made a large sum of money and everyone is going to get some of the will, but there is one condition - no one can leave the house-area for 5 days. If someone does, no one gets no money. So the whole fading group of friends is stuck in the house for 5 days.So beyond the set-up to the story, it's just general relationship problems (that includes both friendships and significant others) that occur among the people in this movie... so if you like that kinda stuff, then you might enjoy this movie. I gave this movie a 7 to 8 stars out of 10 simply because I enjoyed the movie... it wasn't super deep or touching... but it was fairly interesting. If you go into this movie expecting some hilarious comedy, then you won't make it too the end, simple as that. But if you go in looking for a relationship-drama... then this should be worth while.

I watched this film with my mother and I have to say we enjoyed it. Finally, a movie about young black people with good careers and good actors. We liked the plot of the movie. I feel like it had a nice flow to it and the characters were developed well enough. The movie was very entertaining. The only thing that I didn't like about the movie was the choice of words the characters used. Sometimes when arguments ignited in the movie the curse words flowed excessively. During those scenes I feel like the f bomb could have been left out. If you don't care to hear the words mf'ers and the f bomb just mute the angry scenes and enjoy the rest of the movie;)

The acting in this movie was terrible with the exception of Stacy Dash and Reagan Gomez-Preston. Christian Keyes was pretty good too as Stylz. The rest were just too cheesy. It has its funny parts but most of it made me cringe. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a feel good movie in the way that everyone so blatantly cheats on their significant others without batting an eye. I wished they would have gone into more of the background of some of the characters, especially the main friend in who's house they stay. It seemed like he made his will yesterday. It could have been much better but was sub-par, IMO. I don't think I'd recommend it.

This movie is one of the best of 2012! In Dysfunctional Friends you see some very talented fresh faces Like Christian Keyes and Angela Simmons and many of the pros coming together on one screen like Stacy Dash and Datari Turner. The bond between friends is the overall theme in this drama/comedy and its the relationships; both past and present that make us who we are. I laughed hard and even got teary-eyed in the nearly 2 hour film. This movie is a classic and I wish that it could have had a better chance of being on the silver screen with a bigger budget. Good movie EnjoyH.R.H
