Melanie Bouvet The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
Patience Watson One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Cody One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Saiyan_Prince_Vegeta This movie did give me some interesting thoughts, which I never had before. First of all, this movie gives you a good view on father-daughter relationship and it is hard for a loving father to see when his loving daughter grows up and starts giving her attention to another man. There is an interesting scene when Jade is sitting on her father's lap and a minute later she goes to her boyfriend. **A father always hopes that his girl's boyfriend will love her as much as he loves her.** It's hard to believe that Jade still loves David after knowing all the truth (about the house and the father), but I guess love stories like this one do happen in real life. I watched this movie while on Tom Cruise marathon and Tom Cruise in this movie is only around 20 seconds, but it was still an interesting movie overall.
slightlymad22 After my look back at Sean Connery's Filmography, I have decided to do one Tom Cruise.Endless Love (1981)Plot In A Paragraph: David A high school student's love for a 15-year-old girl is thwarted by parental disapproval.I used to enjoy this movie, however after reading the book in the early 90's. I realised how they messed it up, and it's a pretty poor movie. I think the biggest mistake was moving the movie into chronological order. The book begins with David, committing an act that will end all of his happiness, as a result of this, David is sent into a mental institution, where he remembers, with full grief, the great love of his life. The movie seriously loses something by changing this, and the less said about the ending the better. For me, Brooke Shields is the best thing in the movie, I think Martin Hewitt is awfully miscast, despite being a talented actor. As Tom Cruise, he has a small role, but it's an important one, as it's his character that puts the idea in the head of the main character to do something, that starts a tragic chain of events. It's worth noting this character was not in the book Endless Love grossed £31 million at the domestic box office (more then Escape From New York, An American Werewolf in London and both of Sly's offerings Nighthawks and Escape To Victory) to end the year the 22nd highest grossing movie of 1981.
azjimnson I wonder if they had to book two seats for Franco Zefirelli when they flew him in from Italy to direct this through trashing of Scott Spenser's fine novel. Certainly an additional seat was needed to transport the immense ego of this overrated hack from Italy, who previously lucked out by making the one movie ,"Romeo and Juliet," that had a such a guaranteed audience it couldn't fail. I just hope Scott got a lot of money, 'cause seeing his fine novel turned into dung by this pretentious fraud must have been painful. Suffering through this poorly acted, horribly directed travesty has actually held me back from watching "Waking the Dead," which, while it my be a more respectful adaptation of a later Spencer novel does change some basic plot elements and eliminates several of the book's key characters.
MarieGabrielle I will have to read the novel this is based on because, overall the effect of the story in unrealistic, and frankly, strange.Yes, Brooke Shields looks lovely. Her sometime boyfriend is apparently obsessive. We see the usual nebulous references to psychiatry, which was a prevalent plot twist during this time period. When a story plot could not gel, the psychiatric angle would be thrown in to the story (Think: "Prom Night", "Halloween" or "Lipstick").Don Murray as the ever concerned but clueless father, once again. Disjointed families, divorce and early 80's drama. Not the worst, but certainly could have been better. The hospital and diagnosis of the obsessive boyfriend were completely surreal. 4/10
