Absolutely the worst movie.

What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

Henry (Tom Everett Scott) is a park ranger on King's Island off the coast of Maine. He is being threatened by Clay (Orlando Jones) the brother of a man killed under Henry's command back in... Clay blames Henry and wants revenge/justice. Meanwhile Xander (Jean-Claude Van Damme) a cheese eating vegan drug dealer is looking for a shipment of heroin that was dropped in the bay near the shore of the island. Clay and Henry are forced to team together etc. etc. This was a very predictable, badly scripted, poor dialouge film. The title is from the expression, "you keep your friends close and enemies closer" or in this case there are no friends just one enemy closer than the other enemies. Van Damme has an early fight scene, but his close-ups after that include eating fruits and berries. Not even worth viewing. Better action films out there.Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.

When I first seen the trailer to this in 2014 I was like, this is great I want to see this and I was not disappointed.Let me start by saying that Van Damme is back. His performance was good as the main villain I've been a fan of his for years and seeing him be a sort of corky bad guy was really fun.Now as far as Universal Soldier, the two new ones, I hated. Those films to me ruined that franchise but more on that for another review.Van Damme is some type of drug trafficker who loses his dope and gathers some henchmen to find it, but runs into trouble as he faces off against a Park ranger. I don't want to get into spoilers here but it's cool. The action scenes were excellent and the twists were unexpected Orlando Jones who I remember from Mad TV is in this and with out spoiling anything he was great too.Overall I liked it very much, director Peter Hymns is a good director way better than his immature son John Hymns, thanks for ruining universal Soldier.

This is a Pretty Good Van Damme as the Short One is Aging Somewhat Gracefully and seems to be having Fun Playing Complete Psychotics of the Comic Book Variety. Taking a cue from the Joker, He Slays and Plays with a Teased Up Orange Hairdo and Jokes for the John. Here Director/Cinematographer Peter Hyams Clicks Away with One Fight Scene After Another in Various Locations for Variety and the Body Count is High and the Violence is Intense. But Buffering it all is the Whimsical Van Damme and a Tone of High Style and Over the Top Dialog. This is a DTV that Caught some by Surprise because it is Above Average for that Type of Thing and it Delivers the Goods like a B-Movie Should. The Supporting Cast is Along for the Ride but No One can Keep Up with Van Damme and for the most part are Interchangeable and Hardly Worth Remembering. But They do Show Up for the Shoot and there is Quite a bit of that along with some Bone Crushing Hand to Hand that is Impressive. Watch Out for the One in the Trees.

Maybe the 8 stars is more because of how surprisingly entertaining this Van Damme movie is compared to some of his recent stuff. I actually only even took a chance on it because Orlando Jones was in it as well.Van Damme seems to be channeling the creepy acting methods of Willem Defoe, Christopher Walken and Jack Nicholson in this one, and he pulls it off really well. If you are looking for mindless action with a basic plot line, this one provides just that with a few little twists to boot. No Academy Awards here, but for pure action movie submersion without a whole lot of need to think too deeply, this movie was a pleasant surprise.
