SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Michelle Ridley The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity
Marva-nova Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
phanthinga Before watching the latest live action movie adaptation from the "Tomb Raider" franchise directed by a Norwegian director Roar Uthaug i think i need to watch at least one of his movie first so I choose Flukt or Escape in english cause I love a good medieval flick and this time it set in Norway a place I hardly know anything about.Despite the main lead is just another 'Mary Sue' kind of character and a few errors in the subtitle from my version of the movie it still very easy to follow the story and about 1h 20 minutes it done a good job to entertain me
unbrokenmetal Norway, 1363. Signe (Isabel Christine Andreasen) must watch when bandits kill her family, she is the only survivor. The leader of the bandits is a woman, Dagmar (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal). They take Signe to their camp, but she manages to escape with the help of another abducted girl, Frigg (Milla Olin). The two girls are now on the run, persecuted by five merciless killers, across an empty wasteland...This is a very, very good movie because it keeps the story simple, escape and chase. There is only a small number of characters, and everyone has an interesting background story. For example Dagmar is not just kidnapping girls because that's what bandits do. We get to know in a flashback that her own daughter was taken from her years ago, and that left a traumatic desire to replace her. Also the historic setting is interesting: after the Black Death killed many people a few years before this story begins, almost everyone has lost loved ones, families are broken apart, it's a society in a hard situation. In a Hollywood movie, you'd get a CGI dragon, a thousand extras nobody cares about and a fight for the crown of a viking kingdom. In this modest Norwegian production, you only have two girls running for their lives, and it keeps you thrilled during the whole 80 minutes. Less is more in this case. Highly recommended.
peefyn The Norwegian landscape gets put to its proper use in "Flukt", where it's ancient look makes it easy to believe that what you are watching is taking place in the middle ages. The two girls playing the leads do a great job portraying scared, but level headed, girls. The "grown-ups" did a good job too, but some of these characters were reduced to mindless goons. The movie is quite short on dialog, and some of it was pretty bad. Enough was said to keep the story going, but a little more would maybe added some (needed) depth to some of the characters.I guess you could say the plot is a series of close calls (but which action movie isn't?), and the movie sometimes takes some shortcuts for simplicity. Especially one sequence in the end would have gone down much differently if just any of the characters had said something. While the locations used for filming were really good, it was sometimes hard to feel that they connected with each other, and because they were so different (rocks, forests, mountains, plains) it was sometimes hard to place them right next to each other (even though they very well could have been).
shereejo I love when I watch a movie that stars actors I've never seen before. I was enthralled by the movie from the start. The actors were so good and I loved the whole story. This was a gem of a movie I came across having never heard of it before. The scenery was gorgeous and I never mind subtitles. I always forget I'm even watching a foreign movie if it's good. I recommend this movie to anyone that likes adventure, a little thriller, and period-type movies. I'm especially fascinated with the lead actress. She was so scary tough but yet you also felt some empathy for her. I will be watching for her in the future now. There are some brutal scenes so if you don't like violence, this movie isn't for you. I was curious enough about this movie to look it up and check out the actors. That is when I know I really liked a movie. Plus, I thought about it long after it ended. Maybe just me, but I really liked this movie.
