Protraph Lack of good storyline.
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Edgar Allan Pooh " . . . monkeys," Foghorn Leghorn tells Prissy's son regarding their upcoming Game Day. No doubt Leghorn's demeaning comment was a quick aside on the part of Warner Bros.' always prophetic Animated Shorts Seers division (aka, The Looney Tuners) to the H & M department store chain to be very careful about how they word their ads for Hoodies in the Politically Correct 21st Century. Ditto for the book that Egghead, Jr. is reading as FEATHER DUSTED begins: HOW TO ISOLATE THE ISOTOPE, which is now considered the "Holy Grail" by Quantumbibliophiles (that is, those book collectors specializing in amassing all of the seminal tomes comprising the early days of Quantum Physics). But upon closer examination, discerning viewers probably will realize that Leghorn's analogy about half-witted monkeys is not simply a cautionary note to one corporate marketing department. Rather, it's an apt description of President Putin's Administration in Washington, which infamously shut down the entire U.S. government a few hours ago under the misdirection of "Jello the Hutt." Warner Bros.' clairvoyant Extreme Early Warning System for We Americans of (The Then) Far Future consistently use Foghorn Leghorn as their stand-in for Putin's Clown, and FEATHER DUSTED is no exception. Each of the five games--croquette, cops & robbers, cowboys & Indians, pirates, and battleship--Leghorn plays with Egghead puts him--and all of America--in a far worse position than when Putin rigged the Electoral College. In the final scene of FEATHER DUSTED, Leghorn\Jello springs dozens of leaks, bringing to mind the drip-drip-drip of Robert Mueller's Pre-Impeachment Proceedings.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Feather Dusted" is a Warner Bros. cartoon from 1955, so this one is over 60 years old and from the Golden Age of Animation. Foghorn Leghorn is the star here or is it his silent little pal? Anyway, Mother Hen (with no love interest in Foghorn here) is out for the day and Foghorn decides it is time to get her son away from books and theory and show him what the real world is like. The result is the little chicken being in control of everything and knowing exactly what to with every situation laid on him by the big rooster. And we all know who is gonna pay for it in the long run. But hey that chicken can get out of jail within seconds. Impressive stuff. Dealing with the little shy guy is a much bigger challenge. McKimson, Pierce, Blanc and Benederet delivers nicely with this one here. i recommend the watch. It's entertaining, smart and funny.
utgard14 Foghorn Leghorn's worried that Miss Prissy's son, Egghead, is going to be a sissy because all he does is sit around reading books all day. So the rooster decides to teach the little chicken how to play games like croquet and play make-believe like cowboys and Indians. Pretty funny Foghorn short with adorable little Egghead stealing the show. The animation is bright and colorful. The music is energetic and fun. There are many funny gags and lines in this one. The great Mel Blanc provides exceptional voice work but I have to say I was disappointed by Bea Benaderet here. Her Prissy voice this time sounds nothing like what I've heard before from her. It's not the best Foghorn or Egghead short I've seen but it is entertaining. Blowhard Foghorn never gets old.
TheLittleSongbird Feather Dusted is enormous fun, one of my favourites from a unique cartoon character who I appreciate much more from a young adult perspective. It isn't particularly original or surprising story-wise, but if you're familiar with the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons you'd expect not to look for those. It is a crisply paced cartoon and enormously entertaining from start to finish. The native American stereotyping might be a problem for some(the same people who will dislike the stereotyping of southerners in The Dixie Fryer), I personally wasn't offended by it, it was only words and it wasn't done heavy-handedly and have seen worse examples. Also Feather Dusted also came at a time where people weren't afraid to be politically incorrect. Whatever your feelings are on this issue, it isn't enough to detract from the quality of the rest of the cartoon. The animation is great, the vibrant colour, detail and fluidity are all there. As is the music, which is very energetic and characterful complete with beautiful orchestration. The visual gags are very imaginative and funny, seeing water coming out from holes out of Foghorn at the end is enough to crack anybody up. But the best of the humour is from Foghorn's dialogue, it is as ever sharp and witty, the repetition is endearing and you have to admire and wonder how the writers get these crazy similes for Foghorn, "I say this will be more fun than a barrel of half witted monkeys", "that boy's as timid as a canary on a cat show" and especially "probably as cold as a nudist on an iceberg!" are priceless. Egghead and his mother are good character, but not enough to steal the show from under Foghorn, who doesn't disappoint here at all. And that is true also with Mel Blanc's vocal characterisations. All in all, just great, any Foghorn fan will love it. 9/10 Bethany Cox
