It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

This is a romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore as workaholic Lindsey Meeks and Jimmy Fallon as charming Ben Wrightman. They hit it off and the two seemed to be the perfect couple; however, when summer comes Lindsey discovers that Ben has an unusual obsession with the Boston Red Sox, and things start to go downhill from there. While I am not a big fan of romantic comedies, I find "Fever Pitch" to be at least mildly entertaining. It delves into the relationship and events between Lindsey and Jimmy, all surrounding Ben's love with the Boston Red Sox. There are some corny moments here and there and Ben's obsession with the Boston Red Sox does get overboard at times, but I thought this plot-line is clever, which makes this movie unique and differ from those typical and predictable romantic comedies: people meet each other, love at first sight, they date, they fall in love, they argue and break up, they make-up and get back together, bla bla bla....I first saw this movie while I was on a plane and, with some descent acting and a funny story, this film was worth staying up on the plane for.Grade B-

Fever Pitch is an unusual romantic comedy. It does use the "opposite makes the perfect match" kind of routine, and the "hurt" shows up as a scenario plot, but it's all well used, and the choice of opposite is original. You don't even have to like baseball or know anything about the Red Sox to like the movie and appreciate the story. The writers take you along for the ride. It is funny and sweet. It won't let you down.Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore play their roles very well. Drew even shows up at her most sexy and most corporate. The rest of the cast also give a great performance. The soundtrack, editing, and camera work are all invisible, which means they are just right. The only negative things, would be, first, when Lindsey is sleeping in her office. Nobody would be strung out like that. Ever. Second, that again, the lead female reverts to wanting to change her man, when had actually started as accepting. If you're in the mood for a funny romance, you should see it.

Drew was the only good thing going for this film. Her male lead has no appeal - no life, no zing, no sex, no rough...nothing. He is lifeless on screen and every scene with him in it is immediately killed. There are actors I don't like simply because of the characters they play or how they play them...but even though I don't like them, the actors bring life to their roles (Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt).Jimmy Fallon is dead in terms of expression. His eyes, his movements...everything is just wrong. How Drew could be in love with this guy is beyond me...how his mother can love him is beyond me.The story is week, the take-outs on the DVD is just boring and I should have put something else in the tray and hit play. That aside, I think that Drew is great - as always. Just, this movie - as in Lucky You, she has little to work with and little to offer her role.I love ya Drew...but quit making crappy movies.

Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore star in Fever Pitch. Which isn't a great movie but was a good one. To think that The Farrelly Brothers actually directed this movie. It doesn't seem like something that they would actually direct. It isn't their best movie, but it is a decent comedy with two convincing and good performances. Fallon stars as a teacher who is obsessed with the Red Sox. Barrymore plays a woman who starts dating him and eventually finds out that he is a freak about them. Even knowing how big of a freak they are, she still dates him anyways. She is taken to almost every game. She soon is kind of heartbroken to the extremes that he goes to. Fever pitch has it's funny moments. It's the Farrelly brothers what do you expect? What you don't expect is so much romance. But that is what I liked about this movie. This movie was something different for everyone. I like both actors, they are both convincing, and I have to give this movie a thumbs up.Fever Pitch:***/****
