Quiet Muffin
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

"Jeremy Coleman" (Josh Duhamel) is a dedicated fireman for the city of Long Beach who just happens to witness the cold-blooded murder of a convenience store clerk by a man named "David Hagan" (Vincent D'Onofiro) who is also the leader of an Aryan supremacist gang. Although he agrees to testify what he doesn't know is that David Hagan is more than eager to kill him to prevent that possibility. As a result Jeremy is put on the witness protection program and while in New Orleans falls in love with one of the marshals by the name of "Talia Durham" (Rosario Dawson). Unfortunately, this has severe consequences as David finds out and now has another bit of leverage to use against Jeremy. Now rather than reveal any more of this movie and risk spoiling it for those who haven't seen it I will just say that it started out pretty good. However the last 20 minutes or so was completely ridiculous and really ruined a fairly solid film. So much so that I feel compelled to rate this movie as slightly below average.

I believe never to let facts ruin a good story, but if you are trying to sell horsesh*t as roses, at least have the decency to polish those turds to a high sheen. Everybody looks ashamed to be associated with this bomb and they only completed the project to claim their paychecks. So what does this stinker consist of? It starts with a fire where the fireman gets rewarded with a box of very expensive booze (as if anybody would hand it out after their home or place of business burned down), our hero & friends end their shift & decide to drink the booze, our hero gets trapped in a convenience store where the very predictable evil white guy kills the very predictable victims from a minority group, our hero escapes and only gets shot in the arm, he identifies the villain, decides to testify against him and enters witness protection. Hero decides to take the fight to villain, get seven shades of sh*t beaten out of him every few minutes (without any side effects). Hero kills villain. Pop in some cheesy lines, bad acting and profanity for the sake of profanity and you get the whole movie on a cheese platter, albeit a moldy cheese platter. Watch at your own peril. Rather read a book, any book, the plot and suspense of Little Red Hiding Hood is better. The 1 star is for Bruce Willis, just because my mom worships the man.

Considering that this movie went straight to DVD despite having Bruce Willis in its cast, I wasn't expecting much. But when I got a chance to see it for free after finding a DVD copy at my local library, I decided to give it a spin. Actually, unlike many user commenters here, I didn't find the movie to be terrible. To be sure, its screenplay could have gone through a few more rewrites - the love subplot feels unfinished, the main story has more than its share of predictable twists and turns, and the ending feels rushed and incomplete. Also, some of the acting leaves a lot to be desired. Josh Duhamel transformation from an ordinary Joe to a methodical killer is quite unconvincing, and Bruce Willis is downright terrible at times, phoning in a performance that obviously only took a few days to shoot. On the other hand, Vincent D'Onofrio makes his bad guy character a quite nasty piece of work, coming across as smart and scary - a deadly combination. And while a lot of the movie is predictable, I can't say I was bored at any moment. It moves along at a swift pace, and the action sequences are exciting and extremely brutal. This is far from a great movie, but if you are looking for some nonthink entertainment, it does deliver. Yes, it has some big problems, but believe me, I have seen plenty of direct to video movies that are MUCH worse than this movie.

If you like Josh Duhamel, if you like witness protection program, if you like action and manhunt through the US...Then this movie is made for you.Don't come for Bruce Willis, he has a secondary role, we don't see him that much. This movie storyline is a bit like "Eraser" with Arnold Schwarzenneger. But the action is 30 years later. And this time with Josh Duhamel, who plays his role great. This is a great action movie.Watch it with your friends.
