SPOILER: Worst kind of garbage you can watch.
All the recipes are here. a dumb couple on a travel
A naive girl that never listens to anything and gets everyone killed.
typical first grade theathrical people that can't act like a scary ghosts
so they move like bellydancers and gestulate with their hands like
the worst emo techno videos on youtube.
incredibly laughable and cringeworthy. The opening scene sets the tone
with maybe the most ridicilous scene they could have come up with.
a girl is running through crowded 'marketplace streets and in the next
she's runs in an dark alleyway?! That's not very clever if youre hunted by bellydancer ghosts. The bellydancer ghosts stops her hand in the victims mouth?? after some cheesy gesticulations. you know.. look at my makeup hand! it took 2 hours to make my nails for halloween.
This Is just another movie that joins all the rest of the dungheap.
That taylor compton "Halloween girl seem to take wichever crap script there Is.
Can you imagine this girl once played alongside kristen stewart.
Why is these kind of movies even labeled horror?? they should just be labeled
actors who act out like nurses in silent hill and believe that's scary.
What a F junk!!

The horror genre has been pretty crappy the past several years. I was looking on Netflix for a horror film to watch & came across "Ghost House". Though a lot of the reviewers didn't really like this film, I actually did, which is rare these days. I'm not a big fan of slasher or torture-porn movies (the exception being "House of 1000 Corpses" & "Devil's Rejects"-go figure) & the idea of a "ghost house", small temple-like houses where people leave offerings to "keep the ghosts happy" was interesting to me. I had a friend from Laos & his parents erected a shrine that looked similar to the ghost houses, for an uncle that had passed away & he told me they do the same thing as with a ghost house, (though I don't think his uncle was haunting anyone) & it's left in place for a year to honor their dead. Ghost House offerings are somewhat like those used in Santeria & some of the houses depicted in this film are really beautiful. Asian horror is usually good, & to me, this was no exception. I normally watch imports that are hard to find & for the most part, pretty graphic ("Audition" & "Irreversible" for examples), along with Tartan Extreme films. Also, I don't care if a story has what people call "jump scares", but when Julie looks up & sees her ghost for the first time as it sits on top of it's "house", I have to admit, I jumped :D. I also thought the makeup effects didn't look fake or contrived in some type of way as they are in some of the older horror films & even some of the recent ones. It was quite rotten of Robert & Billy to set Jim & Julie up the way they did, even though Billy tries to distance himself from Robert's trick. It that way, it reminded me somewhat of "Hostel". Seems like someone is always trying to jack up American tourists & you'd think they'd be on to this by now, but they keep falling for these tricks. This film was realistic in depicting Thai culture & the fact that it was filmed in Bangkok & the surrounding areas added some realism to the story. I'm not a reviewer who is a "plot spoiler", I'm simply writing my opinion of this film & that I like the storyline, filming locations & even the "ghost". I have a few of my own superstitions, so the idea of making small houses & giving offerings to the ghosts to keep them happy appeals to my nature. In closing, though this film only got about 4 stars, I rated it a 7. I may get a few jeers for that, but as I said, it's only my opinion. BTW: make sure you don't do anything to upset the "ghosts" in your life & hopefully they don't look like Julie's. "Disrespect the body, enrage the spirit".

The film starts off moderately ok with a couple vacationing in Thailand who visit an ancient burial site where they are attacked by an evil spirit that follows them throughout the vacation. The film then spirals into a mess of cliches, bad acting, predictable jump scares, and a story that does not hold your attention. The story becomes dull and uninteresting within 15 minutes of the opening, an opening that crams too much information into it, making questions one would have about the story answered already, leaving the story nearly non-existent.The jump scares are almost all the same. Girl is alone, ghost suddenly appears, girl freaks out. It may work the first few times, but you end up knowing what the scare is going to be before it happens. While the ghost from a distance could be considered by some as scary, up close it is not. The make-up job on the ghost is so poorly done, it renders the tensions useless and takes you out of the moment. The writing is also painfully dull, including characters with barely one dimension as well as conversations that leave you waiting for it to be over so the next scare will come.In short, if you are a horror veteran, skip it. If not and you want some cheap scares, go for it.

Predictable, overbearing, and generic, Ghost House is a film that is lacking in all the essential ingredients that make up a great horror. It's nothing more than a cheap knock-off of far better films that have come before it.One of the weakest elements of the film is that it seems to have little to no ideas of its own. The plot is eerily similar to Drag Me to Hell, with only certain details being changed. It not only lacks originality but scares too and many of those are ripped entirely from other horror films, with one scare in particular involving an eye and a throat which is taken directly from Insidious: Chapter 3.Despite the clear unoriginality, the film at least attempts to conjure up some of its own scares, to differing levels of success. One recurring element is the image of the central character, a disfigured, demonic old woman who's severely burned. Her first appearance is actually quite effective, but later appearances become less effective as the film has already showed you everything the creature has to offer.Much like the plot, the characters are also incredibly generic and paper-thin. The weak dialogue and lack of any character development make the characters dull and uninteresting and you struggle to develop any real emotion for them.If there's one thing the film does get right it is the beautiful landscape shots of Thailand, which does look magnificent here. Cinematographer Pierluigi Malavasi does a great job of making Thailand look stunning. He also does an admirable job of lighting and framing some of the films key set-pieces, while these scares are unoriginal, at least they look professional.Decent cinematography aside, though, there's nothing to see here. Ghost House is a wearisome and empty horror that is completely devoid of any decent scares. Its sheer lack of originality will leave you yearning to watch one of the many superior films that Ghost House borrows so heavily from.
