An inspirational movie not just for soccer players but for all of us. Thanks for Glen Foy. Very entertaining movie.

It is surprising that this film is a 12a because the clichéd, far-fetched nature of the piece seems more suitable to a film directed at young children. The inner child inside me did sub-consciously grip me to the story of Santiago Munez, however, as a film, the storyline was weak and there were elements of unrealistic, far-fetched nonsense throughout the piece which simply could not be ignored.Without being too ruthlessly harsh, from a viewers perspective, the general storyline seemed poorly thought-out. In addition some of the acting at times was underwhelming. The main saving grace for the piece was that the cinematography was very good and out-shined the sub-standard acting and blatant plot flaws

Santiago is a young man from Mxico who tries hard to make a life for him and his family in the USA, but the prospects of playing football (soccer) prove to be too strong, as he leaves home to pursue his dreams in England...for New Castle, of all teams. When I first heard about this, I was put off by the story line...a little far-fetched was my first reaction...Surely they could have based it on a kid from the hard end of New Castle who makes it in the big leagues...But I gave this a chance and I was pleasantly surprised...Football is something that I'm into...It's one of the greatest sports there is..and here the footy is directed beautifully, every kick makes you believe that it will end up in the net...The actors were all satisfactory and I loved Glenn who doesn't give up on a young man's dream....Overall a good football movie...

In the mix of all sports movies, when a movie is made for soccer, the expectations of the audience, is a thousand fold. This is because most of the Soccer Movie goers are soccer (football) fans. Football fans are not so forgiving when it comes to the football scenes. This movie captures the scenes fantastically. It shows real football. The filmmaker knows football. The stars know football. The cameramen know football. This is independent film-making at its best. It has the main plot which is the struggle of an athlete to achieve his dream. It has side plots which involve his relationships with his father, his new found girlfriend and his grandmother. His interactions with his brother and his teammates are great. But probably the most important event of his life has to do with the lucky break he gets when a former player turned scout sees him play. From there, the dream begins for the star of the movie and the audience as well. This movie is highly recommended.
