I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

This is the first from a whole lot of "Guinea Pig"-short films. It was released in 1985 and I don't know if it's the most disturbing, but they're all in dimensions where there's really no "most" anymore at all. The story from this one can be summarized quickly: A couple guys abduct a girl (the guinea pig for their experiments), tie her up, humiliate her and torture her in every way you can possible imagine and a couple ways you can't even imagine. There's not much talk, just the occasional moaning from the victim in her white dress and girly shoes. The several segments of the film each receive a title like "burn" or "worm" which describes the method of torture about to be applied. It's hard to find any positive factors about this short film. The sudden cuts into the green with the birds singing were possibly the attempt by the director to create a bit of a contrast, but certainly weren't particularly well-executed. The only one I can think of is how the director succeeded in making it look so damn realistic and the final written words of the film certainly tricked many people into believing this was not fake, but a real documentary. This one is definitely not for the mild-mannered. So if you had too look away repeatedly during the last Tarantino movie, stay away. But if you like horror, gore, shock-and-awe, then check this one out. The only part I had to kinda look away was the eye sequence near the end. If you manage the same, you're pretty good I'd say. And if you really end up enjoying it, you got a full franchise ahead of you, in which most films are considerably longer than these 43 minutes.

This is quite easily the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I don't know how this has a reputation for being so horrible. The girl in the film is halfway smiling during most of the "torture," if you can call it that. I can't believe this was a serious attempt at horror.Oh no, they're spinning her in around in a chair! Oh, the humanity! She doesn't even make any noises for the last half of it. She's just sitting there as they pour a few maggots on a wound, and even when they shove a massive needle through her eyeball... not a peep. What was up with the sheep guts part? She screams as they lightly toss sheep organs onto her, but not a noise as they shove a needle through her eyeball. Seems pretty legit to me! I was expecting to see something that would haunt my dreams for weeks. Instead I'm laughing at how weak of an effort it is 10 minutes after watching. The second Guinea Pig (Flowers of Flesh and Blood) is 100 times more disturbing, but even that one isn't particularly awful. It took itself less seriously though, and even has a twisted kind of comic relief in the way the killer is wearing a samurai helmet, has a powdered white face, and fake half-rotten hillbilly teeth. There have been college dorm hazing rituals more awful than this lame film. If you want to laugh at something stupid, then sure give this film a try. Otherwise, just move along and find something else.

Well, how do you even rate a movie such as this one? Does it even have cinematic value really? It's a movie that tries to get as close to being a snuff movie as possible. Basically the entire movie is purely a bunch of guys torturing a young girl. Not very appealing and on top of that also not that realistic really. It's obvious that the movie tried to be as realistic and shocking as possible. However the movie is just all too fake for that to work out as intended. The slapping and stumping is all soft and fake looking, as well as sounding. They are often just kicking into the floor, rather than into the girl, obviously. Also the way the girl responds to all the torments is pretty tame. I mean if this was real, surely she would had screamed it out. There is more moaning than screaming in this one though. The movie is obviously low budget and it's a valor attempt at trying to achieve something shocking and realistic as well as original and provoking, with very limited resources. Don't really think this movie made much impact though at the time it got released, though it must had done something well, since a total of six sequels got released after this one.Fans of shock and gore will most likely be disappointed by this movie, though there are still some fetish people out there who will get a kick out of this movie.4/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

Before slipping this film into my DVD player, I must admit I had a few reservations. Having heard about the "Guinea Pig" movies many years ago, I had been warned that they were "strong stuff" and best viewed on fast-forward due to the over-the-top graphic violence (or pornographic gore, as I believe Chas Balun referred to it in one of his articles). As my finger paused on the "Play" button, I had to wonder, "Would the films be just too much to view or another case of over-hyped horror product?" The first "Guinea Pig" production was "Devil's Experiment" (1985), otherwise known as "Unabridged Agony". This 1986 straight-to-video release in Japan is a deliberately low budget production, resembling a snuff movie with just a touch of Japanese artistic content to make the viewing experience more bearable. Interestingly, the original Japanese video release had no credits and so bore more resemblance to an under the counter, real snuff flick! My own feelings are that this original version, presented on a VHS tape, would have really appeared seedier and more, ahem, authentic. The "plot" as such is that a gang of men systematically abuse and torture a young woman, climaxing in her final demise. Their various methods of pain affliction involve the use of white noise, constant rotation, forced to drink alcohol, being burnt, cut, etc. One of the most bizarre moments of the ordeal is when the unconscious victim is being pelted with animal guts. Although it could be argued that there isn't really a storyline as such, the film does succeed in a slightly sordid, voyeuristic and uncomfortable manner in making the viewer an unwilling viewer of the unfolding events. The film definitely isn't easy going but the episodic nature of the production allows you to draw breath before being plunged into the next atrocity. In terms of raw energy, this production does pack a punch.
