Truly Dreadful Film

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

The movie really just wants to entertain people.

Halloween 4 was so corny and was terrible in every aspect. Let's see the kills were lame and so unrealistic (Impaling a girl with a gun, digging his nail into the guys head, lifting and tossing a guy about twenty feet into an electrical outlet, squeezing a guy's neck to death, the truck massacre yet nobody's able to fight back). The ending was so stupid how for no reason Jamie kills her mother, almost as if Michael was a demon and his spirit transferred to the girl. Bringing back Doctor Loomis from the dead but also killing off Jamie Lee Curtis's character. The music didn't capture the scary essense of the original John carpenter's cover. Michael Myers performance was very boring and honestly not at all scary. Overall the fourth was one of the worst slasher movie sequels I think I have ever seen.

It's quite humorous when you think about it. Halloween III tried to be completely different from the original Halloween which resulted in pissed off fans, and Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers tried to be nearly the same as the original Halloween but still resulted in pissed off fans like myself. The only difference between Halloween 4 and the original, is that this reimagining is drastically worse. They should've just called this one "John Carpenter's Halloween: Mediocre Edition" if I'm being frank. The newer films simply can't capture the raw and evenly paced direction that at least the first two entries enticed. With that aside, I'm glad they at least beefed up Michael Myers in this one. This is the #1 Myers you don't want to mess around with. Well, that aside Austin Powers. Also, the ending was cute as hell. You'll know what I'm talking about if you've seen the film.

I prefer part 3 over this one because I found part 3 to be more enjoyable. Good story, good characters, good pacing and neat script. The reason why it's not groundbreaking to me because it's still the same movie to me. It's not the best but it's enjoyable.

In 1987 I was think the following year would be the 10th Anniversary of the original film. I knew there would be a "Halloween IV". For some reason I knew they would call it "The Return of Michael Myers". Now believe it or not I even thought he would go after his "Niece". What I didn't think of was "In the past 10 years where was he"? I saw this film opening night and I saw it again the next day. I enjoyed the film. In was a logical progression of "Where to take the Story" since (At the time) Jamie Lee Curtis said "Should would never do another Halloween". Now this film is well made. The story works and Danielle Harris was very good. The ending was also shocking and well executed. I just wish "Halloween V" would of Incorporated the new direction that was promised at the end of this".
