Good concept, poorly executed.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

When I first saw this film, I had low expectations. Based on what little I knew about the film, I figured it was your typical teen rom com period piece, set in the 80's or something. This film is anything but that, and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. Carried by strong up and coming actors Timothée Chalamet and Maika Monroe, this film takes you on a rollercoaster ride through the summer of 1991 in Cape Cod. Powered by a dominating soundtrack of late 80's early 90's top radio play tracks, it definitely sets the tone for the entire film and plants your mind firmly that time. Without giving away too much, this film definitely takes a turn you weren't expecting and ends in such a way that is both equally satisfying and frustrating. Even if you weren't a teenager in the early 90's, you feel a sense of nostalgia just watching this movie. As others have stated, director Elijah Bynum's cinematic style is similar to that of Martin Scorsese, and this is especially present in the opening of the film. While this film is unlikely to win any awards or get a lot of attention, it's definitely worth the watch at least once.

I wanted to watch this for the longest time but never found it anywhere. This is one of them movies that just makes you ask yourself "what if?". Danny's innocence and the fact that he starts drug dealing without knowing the full consequences of his actions is the most interesting and the primary topic of this film. The only thing that makes this movie interesting is the fact that Danny isn't some macho man who knows exactly what he's doing but rather the opposite. An amazing film good for watching outside on hot summer nights.

Just very poorly directed and edited. You can see what it was trying to be, but it just can't get there. It needs better character/story development. The story moves too fast and it just doesn't seem authentic. I also think the kid who plays the main character, Daniel, needs to not mumble through his lines so you can understand what he's saying! I also really didn't like the random little kid narrating throughout the movie. It seemed to make me feel even more detached from the characters. It's all so utterly predictable, unoriginal and uninspiring.

It's hard to describe or categorize.. but maybe something like if you mixed together an offbeat coming of age tale, teenage crime drama and a love story.. set it in the early 90s and gave it a sublime soundtrack! It's intense and oozes style, seriously it's great go see it!
