Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

jasontheterrible As a political and social commentary this film is ridiculous. If it sounds like a retard, looks like a retard and talks like an educated individual, it is not a retard! So the premise on its face is farcical. However, as a dark comedy that the whole family can enjoy, it is spectacular. Sean Penn is so earnest, forthright, and full of wisdom in this film, that we were in hysterics because he really does look and sound like a low IQ, totally handicapped person. But he is deep, perceptive and spews the lines equaling about 110 or 120 IQ. To be cynical about it, though the ACLU has fought for the criminally and legally insane to roam the streets many times and won over and over, the truth is that nothing but disaster has resulted in being this PC.

jadearce I watched this movie as a child and already at 8 years old, I fell in love with it. Rewatching it at 18 impacted me even more. The acting is amazing. The story line is amazing. The way Sam makes changes everyone throughout the movie by simply being their friend is amazing. This film continues to warm my heart and make me cry. This is one I will show my kids.

muvi-fan-73 I am sam is rated 7.6 at IMDb and considerably low at metacritic.com.Over the time since I first watched the movie. I believed if the conclusion was not in the favour of Sam but visiting rights were in his favour would have been excellent ending.The end however is more or less similar as Sam wants someone to be lucy's mother. It means it still fall in favour of critic's. Metacritic still has low rating, which leaves one wondering why! I recommend this movie. Nice emotional take.

Aravind Dorai There are some flaws in the movie, in editing and some part but the movie is too good. I'm moved by the movie. Sam's role is crucial and Sean Penn delivers it. The little girl Lucy was so cute and it was great acting. The best part i liked in the movie was, when Lucy starts seeing her father in night and Sam bring here back. The scenes made me cry for almost half of the movie.The movie has been remake'd in Tamil and actor was Vikram . Tamil version is also equally good.Just watch the movie and you'll know. Watch is high definition if you can since the movie has life its good to watch in high quality.
