Details

The movie depicts the three months before Choong-nyung (the future Sejong the Great) becomes king. The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, which follows the history of the Joseon Dynasty between 1413 and 1865, leaves out records of this crucial period. While future generations would come to know him as King Sejong, the legendary figure who created the Korean alphabet and advanced the country’s scientific research and law, Prince Choong-nyung was originally dismissed as a reclusive bookworm. When his older brothers Yangnyeong and Hyoryeong fail to impress their father King Taejong, the king makes a royal command for Choong-nyung to become the next ruler of the kingdom instead.

Reptileenbu Did you people see the same film I saw?
SteinMo What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
KineticSeoul This is actually a decent retelling of Mark Twain's "The Prince & The Pauper" and it's set in Korea. It's a alright retelling and does have it's moments and entertainment value. But nothing much to make it stick. It just showed up into Korean theaters and disappeared as quickly with hardly any mention of it by the media. A movie called "Masquerade" came out during the same year which has a similar premise going for it and made a hit. Maybe that is because it had Lee Byung-Hun in it who is a top star in Korea. But this movie was a bit of a flop, which is kinda unfortunate because it's actually a decent movie. Nothing spectacular or a movie that will stick around for a long time. But it has decent entertainment and comedic value with some good morals. Personally I enjoyed this movie, it's a fun watch. I didn't think it was all that memorable but I had a good time sitting through it the first time.6.8/10
