Two versions of the American dream now stand in sharp contrast. One views the money you earned as yours and best allocated by you; the other believes that an elite in Washington knows best how to allocate your wealth. One champions the traditional American dream, which has played out millions of times through generations of Americans, of improving one's lot in life and even daring to dream and build big. The other holds that there is no end to the "good" the government can do by taking and spending other peoples' money in an ever-burgeoning list of programs. The documentary film I Want Your Money exposes the high cost in lost freedom and in lost opportunity to support a Leviathan-like bureaucratic state.

Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
sclarkguy First let me say, OF COURSE this is presented from the Rep side of the aisle. But to be honest, it was kind of refreshing.. seems like every Documentary these days on netflix is from the left. I think the animation was cute, but a little overdone.. a little goes a long way for me.Unfortunately, I feel this really isn't a "Documentary" in the historical sense of the word.. but I also feel we don't really have any "News" today.. All the stations except Fox lean like 70% left, then Fox leans like 90% right to compensate.. and what we have is Nothing objective anymore.. including this, and countless other left wing "Documentaries".Anyway, I liked it .. I laughed.. It wasn't ALL slanted right, he hit W pretty hard on his spending.. saying he got the Regan plan only half-right. I really liked the classroom example at the beginning too.Anyway, enjoy. Keep an open mind.. watch both stations, not just one.
TimBush50 Just having read Through the Looking glass, I was reminded of the epochal battle between the two fat boys, who did not even continue fighting until tea time, as per agreement. Ronald Reagan was Wall Street's main spokesman throughout his lifetime, and won two elections based on this Wall Street propaganda. Today, another Great Communicator, and the current Wall Street selection, Barach Obama, has won the presidency based on pure demagoguery, just as did Reagan. Now, some billionaire (or cabal of billionaires)is going to put Newt Gingrich in office, based on under-estimating the intelligence of American voters. Abraham Lincoln said that you can fool some of the people all of the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. Thank God America is not Wonderland. Tea Party: go away! You really want to know what Americans think? Watch Barbara Kopple's American Dream. We will not be fooled again!
treetherealest I'm sure most people who watch this film already agree with what this film is set out to do. It only takes somebody aware of actual facts to immediately see that this film is a propaganda piece. An exaggerated one sided view which is extremely selective with what it allows in it. Don't expect opposing viewpoints. Don't expect any questioning of what is said. This film will most likely work well on converting Americans who are easily manipulated, can't catch hypocrisy, and have limited knowledge of how events actually went down over the course of history. For those who DO have that ability, you will find yourself wanting to scream at your TV and tell these people how things really are. I could sit here and pick apart many things in this film and try to do my best and let people have a better grasp on reality, but why would I? The facts are already out there. All they have to do is search with an open mind. I'm not saying voting democrat is the answer. They have their own issues as well. I've seen many propaganda films in my time, but this one will get any knowledgeable person really frustrated to know there are people out there eating this stuff up.
mdpollack The Movie shows only the highlights of the Reagan administration and ignored the Surplus Clinton left. It neglected to mention the fact that Regan actually raised taxes once it realized that it was necessary. The movie makes fun of Nixon and ignores all of Reagans failings such as the Olie North debacle and Savings and Loan collapse. The is always more then one way to govern and in an extremely complex world there are no simple answers and until the two major parties work together all will can look forward to is years of bickering and failure. The movie is a perfect recruiting tool for the Tea party but the one sided view of a complicated issue does nothing to enhance the dialog but just adds to the already splinted electorate.
